Thoothukudi district administration has lifted Section 144, which prohibits assembly of more than 4 people in an area, after the situation has started coming back to normal in the town.The district and its neighbouring areas were severely affected by protests over environmental concerns due to the protest, which turned on May 22 claimed 12 people life and injured many after police opened fire on anti-Sterlite protestors, who were demanding the factory to be shut alleging that it is hazardous.
