Sick Leave

The case for period leave is compelling. It may well bring more women into the workforce. But the concept will likely be hostage to the whims of enlightened companies

The airline's statement comes after a sizeable number of the airline's aircraft maintenance technicians went on sick leave to protest against their low salaries and demand restoration of salaries

"We are closely monitoring the situation. As of now operations are normal. Hopefully, it will be resolved shortly," the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a statement.

The airline has asked the technicians concerned to report to the airline's doctor, along with necessary medical documents, so that the carrier can verify if they were actually sick, sources mentioned.

Urban Company introduced an initiative under which employees can take unlimited sick leaves in case they are suffering from any form of mental or physical illness

One may argue, period leaves are easier for a small digital set-up. However, companies, like Tata Steel, have also offered period leave within the sick leave quota since 2018

Low job control and decision-making opportunities have previously been shown to increase the likelihood of sick leave
