A significant percentage of organizations understand the current skills and development needs of their employees and are providing access to upskilling or reskilling opportunities to all employees, says a study. According to Mercer's 2023 Global Talent Trends study, 64 per cent of companies surveyed offer flexible work options for all employees and 54 per cent of organizations have total well-being initiatives. Mercer conducts a comprehensive Global Talent Trends study that includes the perspectives of CXOs, HR leaders and experts, and employees. A top India-centric American business advocacy group, in collaboration with various US government agencies and a prestigious university, has announced an alliance to increase the number of women in STEM education and the workforce in India. The launch of the US-India Alliance for Women's Economic Empowerment STEM Collaborative was announced by Mukesh Aghi, president and CEO of the US-India Strategic and Partnership Forum during the US-India Alliance Shatter Summit. India and the US tech synergy is well evinced in India being an IT powerhouse and the US having the most robust tech economy. However, there is still a lacuna in the number of male and female STEM graduates, Aghi said. For India to unleash its full potential, there needs to be a concerted effort to get more young girls and women in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths), he said. With more and more companies preferring to hire employees on project basis, a report has revealed that there is likely to be 90-110 lakh additions to the gig workforce by 2025, a report said on Wednesday. The gig economy has been one of the most pivotal economic shifts in a long time and people are choosing gig jobs because it works with their lifestyle, they can choose when and how much they work, or it allows them to earn money between jobs, global job site Indeed said in the report. According to the report, companies have also started investing in gig work platforms and processes, which indicates how integral they are to the future of jobs growth in India.
