Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved a proposal to increase the number of workdays from 100 to 125 under the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme. A state government statement said that the scheme, started on the lines of central government's Mahatma Gandhi NREGA, is proving helpful for the jobless in the cities. This amendment will be effective from April 1, 2023. An expenditure of about Rs 1,100 crore is likely to be incurred for providing additional 25 days' work to the urban unemployed, the statement said. Gehlot had made the announcement in the budget 2023-24. The scheme was implemented in the year 2022-23. Last year, a budget of Rs 800 crore was allocated to provide 100 days of employment per family under the scheme. Under the scheme, people can get work through a job card, which they can issued by producing Jan Aadhaar card and fulfilling other formalities. There has been a decline of 11.80 per cent in Indians searching for retail jobs from August 2021 to August this year, according to a report. Indians searching for retail jobs has seen a fall during the pandemic and beyond as jobs in retail sector have seen a 5.50 per cent degrowth in the past three years (August 2019 - August 2022), global job site Indeed said in the report. Although retail job searches saw an uptick of 27.70 per cent from August 2020 - August 2021, it again de-grew by 11.80 per cent from August 2021 to August this year, the report said. This could largely be due to the lockdowns last year and the work from home set up where people chose to purchase online during festivities, it noted. The report is based on an analysis of data from Indeed platform from August 2019 till August 2022. The report further revealed that in the retail sector, managerial roles like 'branch manager' have the highest number of job postings (22.9 per cent) whereas sales associate level role
The Lateral and Final Placements for the PGP and PGPBA Class of 2020-22 of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) saw 662 offers, leading to all 513 students who appeared for placements being placed. Harsh Agrawal, Placement Representative, said: "Overall, there has been a 37 per cent increase in the number of offers YoY, driven primarily by Consulting and Product Management roles. Strategy Consulting continued to be the most sought-after role among the students, followed by Product Management and Finance. Consulting companies made 248 offers led by Accenture with 51 offers, followed by Boston Consulting Group with 30 offers, an IIMB statement said on Wednesday. Top recruiters included Kearney (27), Bain & Company (26) and McKinsey & Company (22). Prominent recruiters in the Information Technology and Product Management domain, who made 141 offers, are Microsoft (15) and OYO (11).
