There is a steady increase in the hiring of tech talents in the EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) sector amid constant technology upgradation by firms and the government's focus on accelerating infrastructure development, according to a report. Following positive sentiments around the 2023 Budget, the EPC sector is witnessing a rise in hiring of tech talents, both top-level management and freshers, according to CIEL HR Services report 'Employment Trends Today in EPC Sector in India - February 2023'. The report revealed that among the non-tech sectors, the EPC takes the lead (11 per cent) with regard to the most sought-after role of software development (2,367 jobs) compared to FMCG (3 per cent), Pharma (2 per cent) and Banking (10 per cent). Akasa Air plans to hire nearly 1,000 people and take the total staff strength to more than 3,000 by the end of March 2024 as the airline continues to expand its fleet as well as routes, according to its chief Vinay Dube. The airline, which took to the skies a little over seven months ago, also plans to start international operations by the end of this year, and the possible overseas destinations are still in the process of being finalised. In an interview with PTI, Dube, the founder and CEO of Akasa Air, said the airline will place a "three-digit aircraft order" by the end of this year. It has placed an order for 72 Boeing 737 Max aircraft, and 19 of them are already in its fleet. The 20th aircraft will be inducted in April, following which it will also be eligible to fly overseas. In the next financial year, the carrier aims to add another 9 planes to its fleet, taking the total size to 28. Currently, it operates 110 flights every day. Hiring intentions will remain marginally lower during the second quarter (April-June) this year as employers continue to have difficulty in finding people with the right skills, according to a survey. Employers in India continue to anticipate hiring workers in the second quarter, reporting a seasonally adjusted Net Employment Outlook of 30 per cent, which is marginally lower from the January-March quarter, according to ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey. Hiring intentions remain marginally lower by 2 per cent quarter-on-quarter, while employers continue to have difficulty finding the right talent, it added.
