Highway Development Programme

With land acquisition still being a pain area, the ambitious Bharatmala Project is expected to be completed in FY28 after a six-year delay only if the current pace of execution is maintained

According to the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation out of 1,579 projects, 425 projects reported cost overruns and as many as 664 projects were delayed

This is part of the broader highway expansion plan that the government plans to undertake in the upcoming years

Given the liquidity squeeze, there is a crying need for significantly better coordination between the RBI and the banks to fully support the government's highway development programme
