RBI's interest rate decision, macroeconomic data and global trends would dictate terms in the equity market in a holiday-shortened week, analysts said. Besides, the focus will also be on foreign portfolio investors' trading activity, they added. Equity markets will remain closed on Tuesday for 'Mahavir Jayanti' and on Friday on account of 'Good Friday'. "Investment by FIIs, who are turning out to be small net buyers, and DIIs will be monitored. The market will also have an eye on the RBI MPC meeting. The RBI policy outcome is scheduled for April 6," said Pravesh Gour, Senior Technical Analyst, Swastika Investmart Ltd. From auto sales data, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors reported their highest-ever dispatches to dealers last fiscal, enabling the domestic passenger vehicle industry to log in the best-ever performance to date. "This week is also a holiday-shortened one and scheduled events and data would keep participants busy. On the macroeconomic front, S&P global ...

Macroeconomic data announcements, the Covid situation in China and global market cues would guide Dalal Street in the first week of trading in the New Year, analysts said. Markets would also keep a track on rupee movement, Brent crude oil prices and foreign fund investment trends. "As market players attempt to understand the Fed's stance, Indian markets may respond in lockstep with their international counterparts when the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) minutes are made public later this week. "Back home, the New Year is poised to begin with auto numbers," said Apurva Sheth, Head of Market Perspectives, Samco Securities. The domestic equity market would focus on global trends and foreign fund trading activity this week amid lack of any major trigger at home, analysts said. "Due to the fact that FIIs were net sellers for a significant portion of December, institutional flows will be another crucial trigger," said Santosh Meena, Head of Research, Swastika Investmart Ltd. Ajit Mishra, VP - Technical Research, Religare Broking Ltd, said, in absence of any major event, cues from global indices, especially the US, would remain on participants' radar. Global central banks like the European Central Bank (ECB) and Bank of England (BoE) followed the US Federal Reserve in increasing policy rates and giving hawkish commentary, sending equities

Stock markets will be driven by global trends, crude oil movement and foreign institutional investments this week, analysts said, adding that benchmark indices may also face volatility amid the scheduled monthly derivatives expiry. Moreover, the movement in the rupee and the progress of monsoon would also be watched by investors, they added. "Indian markets managed to recover from lower levels after two weeks of sharp cuts thanks to a recovery in global markets and a cut in commodity prices. It seems that this recovery may see a further extension and we can expect a decent rally in the coming days in equity markets," said Santosh Meena, Head of Research, Swastika Investmart Ltd. "Apart from F&O expiry, monthly auto sales numbers and monsoon development will be important triggers," Meena said. Crude oil, rupee movement and FIIs' behaviour will be other important factors, he added. Ajit Mishra, VP - Research, Religare Broking Ltd, said, "We expect volatility to remain high this week
