The move will benefit about 4.8 million central government employees and 6.9 million pensioners. The decision will be effective from July 1, 2022.

The announcement of the Chief Minister will lead to a burden of Rs 1947.6 crore to the exchequer and benefit 16 lakh people including serving and retired government employees.

He also announced expansion of the one-kg gram (pulses) per card per family scheme for NFSA card holders, and widening income limit eligibility criteria for inclusion of beneficiaries under the act

This will benefit about 4.76 mn central government employees and 6.86 mn pensioners

The hike, which will be effective from April 1, 2021, will also result in an increase in rate of minimum wages for central sphere employees and workers
