Investors' wealth eroded by Rs 76,196.54 crore on Wednesday, with the market witnessing a sell-off amid rising concerns over possible aggressive interest rate hikes to tame high inflation. The market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies -- which is also an indicator of wealth of investors -- tumbled Rs 76,196.54 crore to Rs 2,85,94,997.40 crore amid the 30-share Sensex falling 224.11 points or 0.37 per cent to 60,346.97 points. On Tuesday, when the markets had gained for the fourth straight session, the market valuation stood at Rs 2,86,71,193.94 crore. The 30-share index rebounded more than 1,200 points from the early lows before settling at 60,346.97 points, a loss of 224.11 points or 0.37 per cent compared to Tuesday's closing level. The market capitalisation of BSE-listed firms reached an all-time high of Rs 282.66 lakh crore on Thursday, helped by a rebound in equities. The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 659.31 points or 1.12 per cent to settle at 59,688.22 after falling in the previous two trading days. Driven by bullish sentiment in equities, the market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies jumped to an all-time high of Rs 2,47,30,108.97 crore on Monday. Extending its winning momentum for the third session, the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex ended 765.04 points or 1.36 per cent higher at 56,889.76, its new closing peak. During the day, it jumped 833.55 points to its lifetime high of 56,958.27. In three days, the benchmark has gained 945.55 points. Thanks to the winning run in equities, the market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies zoomed to Rs 2,47,30,108.97 crore.
