Rajasthan has 1,000 operational health and wellness centres under the central government's National AYUSH Mission, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Tika Ram Jully informed the assembly on Friday. Jully added that 914 men and 823 women had been appointed as yoga instructors on a part-time basis at these centres. The state government has written to the Centre to open another 1,019 health and wellness centres, he said. The Social Justice and Empowerment Minister was replying to supplementary questions during Question Hour on behalf of the ayurveda minister. Earlier, in a written reply to a question by BJP MLA Gopichand Meena, Jully informed that health and wellness centres were being run by the Rajasthan State AYUSH Society according to the AYUSH ministry's guidelines under the centrally-sponsored scheme. The honorarium of the part-time yoga instructors at these centres is determined at the ministry level, he added.
Union Minister for Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal exhorted young ayurveda practitioners on Thursday to prepare themselves to put the traditional system of medicine on the world map, take India to a new height and help the mankind. Sonowal inaugurated the 26th convocation of Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth and a national seminar on the usage of trina dhanya (millets) in contemporary lifestyle here. He talked about how Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicatedly worked to make India a global leader in ayurveda. Because of the efforts of the prime minister, the WHO established the Global Centre of Traditional Medicine in India, he said. "India is now in the position to provide leadership globally in holistic health as Ayush sector has resource, opportunities and potential to do so. He urged graduating students to work with same dedication and take India to new heights," he said. The first batch of 100 students for Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) course was inducted into the newly built All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, on Tuesday. The setup at Dhargal is a satellite centre of All India Institute of Ayurveda in New Delhi and offers preventive, diagnostic, and healthcare facilities apart from providing 14 undergraduate academic courses, said officials. Dean Dr Sujata Kadam said AIIA-Goa is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Ayush. What makes it special is that the organisation is a tertiary care institute that works with modern tools and techniques, said the dean.
Haryana's Health and AYUSH Minister Anil Vij on Friday announced that the state government employees will also get reimbursement for Ayurvedic medicines treatment in addition to the allopathic ones. "Like allopathic medicines, now Ayurvedic medicines will also be reimbursed, I issued orders in this regard yesterday," the minister said. Speaking in Ambala, Vij also said the government is laying emphasis to promote treatment using Ayurvedic medicines on the lines of other medicines in the country. The Haryana government also proposes to include Ayurveda subjects in MBBS course in the state, he said. In a bid to promote Ayurveda across continents, the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Medical Sciences, Cuba, and extended the agreement with Rosenberg European Academy of Ayurveda (REAA), Germany, for five more years to take forward collaborative programmes. The agreements were signed on the sidelines of the 9th World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo. The MoU with Havana-based University of Medical Sciences was signed between Cuban Ambassador to India Alejandro Simancas Marin and Dr Tanuja M Nesari, the director of AIIA. The extension of collaboration with REAA was initiated by the academy's director Mark Rosenberg and Dr Nesari. With these collaborations, Delhi-based AIIA, an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of AYUSH, has 15 international partners and 35 national partners under its collaborative activities, Dr Nesari said. Kerala Health Minister Veena George on Saturday said developmental projects worth Rs 97.77 crore would be implemented in the 'Ayush' sector in the State this year. Compared to the previous years, a three-fold increase has been made in the allocations to the sector, which comprises streams, including Ayurveda and Homeopathy, she said. In addition to the existing 240 units as new projects, 280 new ayush dispensaries would be upgraded as "Aysuh Arogya Swasthya Kendras", the Minister said here in a statement. A 50-bed ayush-integrated hospital would be set up at Attappadi, one of the most backward tribal settlements, at a cost of Rs 15 crore, she said adding that similar integrated hospitals would be set up in Kottarakkara and Adoor by spending Rs 10.50 crore and Rs 7.5 crore respectively, George said. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked between the Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy (Ministry of Ayush) and the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (Ministry of Health) here on Tuesday for inter-ministerial cooperation for the promotion and facilitation of "One Herb, One Standard". P K Prajapati, Director (in-charge) of the Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy (PCIM&H), and Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, Secretary-cum-Scientific Director of the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), signed the MoU in the presence of Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, according to a statement issued by the ministry.
