Stock Market close highlights, Thursday, December 4, 2025: Snapping a four-day losing streak, benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, settled in green on Thursday aided by buying in IT stocks as the Indian Rupee hit a record low of 90.56 against the US dollar. However, the gains were limited as investors remained cautious ahead of RBI MPC decision on Friday.
The BSE Sensex closed at 85,265.32, up 158.5 points or 0.19 per cent and NSE Nifty50 quoted 26,033, up 47.75 points or 0.18 per cent. In the broader markets, the NSE Nifty MidCap 100 index settled flat with a negative bias, and the Nifty SmallCap 100 fell 0.24 per cent. Among the sectoral indices, Nifty IT was the top gainer, up 1.4 per cent, followed by Realty, FMCG, Auto, Pharma, Metal, and Chemical. On the contrary, Nifty Media fell 1.45 per cent, followed by Nifty Bank, Financial Services, Consumer Durables, and Oil & Gas. TCS, Bharat Electronics, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, and HCL Tech were the top gainers on Sensex. Reliance Industries, Maruti Suzuki, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Titan, and Eternal were the top laggards.
