Data story: India logs 5,910 new Covid cases; death toll at 528,007

India has added 46,722 cases in the past 7 days

India on September 5 reported a decrease of 1,140 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 53,974. The country is thirty-second among the most affected countries globally by active cases. On September 5, it added 5,910 cases to take its total caseload to 44,462,445. And, with 16 new fatalities, including seven more reconciled by Kerala, its Covid-19 death toll reached 528,007, or 1.19 per cent of total confirmed infections.
 

With 3,231,895 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on September 4, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 2,135,274,945. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 43,880,464 — or 98.69 per cent of the total caseload — with 7,034 new cured cases being reported on September 5.
