Who is Rishabh Pant?
Rishabh Pant is an Indian cricketer, who plays as a middle-order wicket-keeper batsman for the Indian team. Pant is also the captain of the Delhi Capitals team of the Indian Premier League.
Rishabh Pant's life and education
Rishabh Rajendra Pant was born on Uttarakhand's Roorkee on October 4, 1997. He started his cricket training at Sonnet Cricket Academy in Delhi at the age of 12 and was coached by Tarak Sinha. He represented Rajasthan at U-14 and U-16 levels.
He did his graduation in commerce from Delhi University's Sri Venkateswara College.
Rishabh Pant's career
Pant made his first-class debut for Delhi in October 2015 in Ranji Trophy, and his List A debut in Vijay Hazare Trophy in November that year.
He made his debut in the Indian Premier League in 2016 after he was purchased by the Delhi Daredevils. Pant became the captain of the Delhi team for the 2016-17 Vijay Hazare Trophy, taking over from Gautam Gambhir.
Pant made his international debut in February 2017 after he was named in India's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad to play against England. At that time, he was the youngest player, at the age of 19 years, to play for India in a T20I match.
He made his Test debut in August 2018 against England and in his first match, he scored a six, making India get off the mark in Test cricket. He was named in India's ODI team for its series against West Indies in September that year and he made his debut in One Day International in October 2018.
Pant played for India at the 2019 Cricket World Cup, replacing Shikhar Dhawan, who was out after suffering a hairline fracture in a game against Australia. After the World Cup series, the ICC named Pant the rising star of the squad.
