Who is KL Rahul?
Kannur Lokesh (KL) Rahul is an Indian cricketer who was born on April 18, 1992, in Karnataka. His father is a professor of civil engineering and former director at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in Mangalore and his mother is an associate professor at Mangalore University.
KL Rahul, who is a right-hand batsman and a wicket-keeper, completed his education at NITK English Medium School and St Aloysius College.
KL Rahul's career
Rahul began his cricket training when he turned 10 and played matches for Bangalore United Cricket Club and his Mangalore sports club. For further studies, he attended Jain University in Bangalore.
He made his cricket debut in the 2010–11 season when he represented India at the 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
He was also a part of the Indian U-19 team that played the 2010 World Cup. He is the first batsman from his state to have scored a triple century in Ranji Trophy.
KL Rahul made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on June 11, 2016. He became the first Indian to score an ODI century on debut and helped India win the match by nine wickets.
The cricketer made his T20 International (T20) debut against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on June 18, 2016.
KL Rahul is only the third Indian batsman to score a century in all three formats of international cricket and also the first player in T20 history to score a century while batting at the number 4 position or lower (110*).
He made his Test debut against Australia at Melbourne Cricket Ground on December 26, 2014.
He began his Indian Premier League (IPL) career as a wicket-keeper batsman in 2013 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
He was appointed captain of the Kings XI Punjab for the IPL 2020 season. As of 2022, KL Rahul is the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants IPL team.
