The NHAI also raised claims of Rs 145.33 crore, excluding interest, against the concessionaire on account of delays and other issues
"Those non-productive, non-performing, dead assets in the Government ... should be shown the exit door. There should not be any hesitation", the minister said
He said positive and development orientated approach, transparency, corruption-free system, fast track decision making process and social and national commitment will lead to good governance.
"The turnover of khadi and village industries is Rs 75,000 crore at present. Steps are on to take it to Rs 2 trillion in five years," Gadkari said

Gadkari said his ministry is getting around Rs 14,000 crore to fix problems in the "black spots" of highways where repeated accidents take place.
"We will spend Rs 2 trn in infrastructure projects in this fiscal (2019-20) and Rs 3 trn in the next fiscal (2020-21) to boost the economy and generate employment in thousands," Gadkari said

The minister called for switching over to FASTags so that vehicular movement at NHAI toll plazas becomes faster and smooth
570 fee plazas are operational on the National Highways across the country as on October 31, 2019

Answering queries during question hour in Lok Sabha, Gadkari stated "black spots" will be identified on different roads including national highways, state highways and municipal roads
Describing the process of acquiring land and environment clearance as the major hurdles, the Union road transport and highways minister said environment and development have to go together
The target is also increase the share of MSMEs in the country's export and growth to 50 per cent, Gadkari said
"Pollution will be less in Delhi in the coming years," the road, transport and highways minister said.
The projects will cover a length of 4,471 km of highways
Gadkari also stressed the need for diversifying agriculture towards power and energy to meet the goal of bio-fuel generation
He said that currently, 1,407 projects involving 50,016 km of national highways was underway worth Rs 5.72 lakh crore
