In 1987, the World Health Organization (WHO) established World No-Tobacco Day (WNTD) to drum up awareness around the dangers of tobacco consumption, the business practices of the tobacco industry, as well as to pressure governments around the world to step up policies that work to reduce smoking and the use of other tobacco-based products.
