"The government of Maldives is very heavily in debt to Chinese commercial banks, specifically to Chinese EXIM bank. Bulk of the loans are structured in exactly the manner we don't see this as commercial we see this as land grab colonialism and human rights. We want to see more for an investments in Maldives and Chinese investments but it must go through transparent tendering process, it must have a democratic over site we must be able to benefit from these investments it can't be vanity projects. China has grabbed more land than east India Company had ever done. "

"Al Qaeda and ISIS are developing a deep state within Maldives, they are capturing strategic positions in security forces, in the police, in military, in immigration, in the education ministry and, therefore, the deep state is able to influence. We are very confident that the new government will rise up to this challenge and we will be able to dismantle the deep state," Nasheed said at the Indian Ocean Conference.

India and Russia exchange agreements in presence of PM Modi and Russian President Putin

Vladivostok (Russia), Sep 04 (ANI): India and Russia exchanged several agreements in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin, in Vladivostok. Agreements were signed in several fields including Chennai-Vladivostok sea route. PM Narendra Modi is in Russia as the chief guest of the 5th Eastern Economic Forum. PM Modi will also take part in the 20th India-Russia Annual Summit and hold bilateral talks with President Vladimir Putin.

Decision to revoke Article 370 is India's internal matter, says Indian Ambassador to USA

Washington (US), Sep 04 (ANI): Indian Ambassador to USA, Harsh V Shringla expressed his concern over widespread speculation in media over abrogation of Article 370 in America. He said, "Over the past few weeks we have seen a great deal of speculation, some peddling of half truths, untruths, factually incorrect information that is emanated in media, primarily in United States." He further added, "The recent decision of Government of India relating to the reorganisation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir is uniquely applicable to territory within India which is the state of Jammu and Kashmir. An administrative reorganisation is an internal matter within India and doesn't in anyway impinge on the boundaries of the state of JandK or the international line of control. Therefore, it is an internal matter which doesn't have any impact on any other country."

Male (Maldives), Sep 04 (ANI): Nepal's Foreign Minister, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali expressed his concern over Indo-Pak tension. He said, "As the current Chair of SAARC, we urge all member nations to settle disputes through negotiation. Escalation of tension is not the solution, need not say that conflicts are the worst options which every nation wants to avoid. So I hope there will be some rays of hope which can reduce the tension and then start the negotiation to establish peace and stability in the region." Further adding on Article 370, he said, "The changes of Articles of Constitution is entirely the concerned domain of that govt. So we have no comment on that decision. But what we are closely watching is the implications after those decisions. One of the major concerns for Nepal is, the Nepali's working in that region and we are very happy that they are safe, there is no problem. We are closely in coordination with the government of India for the sake of their security."

Women in Nepal celebrate Hartalika Teej with fervour

Birgunj (Nepal)/ Kathmandu (Nepal), Sep 02 (ANI): Women across Nepal are celebrating Hartalika Teej in Nepal, which holds religious and social significance for them. Teej is a two-day festival. On the first day, women eat food without garlic and onion. On the second day, women observe a 24-hour fast without water and food and worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. They break their fast on the next day. The devotees spend their day by singing, dancing and merrymaking in temple premises and public places. The women danced together to the foot-tapping music of Nepal. "Teej" refers to the "third" day that falls every month after the new moon (Amavasya), and the third day after the full moon night of every month. Teej in Nepal is dedicated to the Goddess Parvati, marking her union with Lord Shiva and women fast for the well-being of husband, children, and the whole family.

20 chefs from world over participate in World Sushi Cup competition

Tokyo (Japan), Aug 29 (ANI): Sushi is a one of the staple dishes of Japan. It is prepared by arranging various ingredients on a plate to create themes. "World sushi cup Japan 2019" was recently held in Tokyo. This competition was held to improve the skill of sushi chefs around the world and promote sushi culture of Japan. Twenty chefs from various regions and countries participated in the sushi competition. Judges at the competition include Daisuke Terasawa and Terasawa, a comic artist of "Shota-no-Sushi", which depicts the life of a sushi chef. Cartoons and dramas have introduced sushi culture to young Japanese people. Recently, cartoons have widely introduced Japanese sushi culture overseas through publication and broadcasting dramas. Yap Wee Leong, a young sushi chef from Malaysia won the competition. His generation of sushi chefs has an experience to watch comic and TV drama of "Shota-no-Sushi". That comic provoked him to be a World top Sushi chef.

Watermelon road race oragnised in Japan

Chiba (Japan), Aug 29 (ANI): Watermelon is the most beloved summer fruit in Japan. Tomisato is a town in Chiba Prefecture of Japan. The town is well known for growing high quality watermelons. From the last 36 years, Tomisato has been holding this running festival to celebrate the red fruit's harvest. Visitors from all across Japan come to Tomisato to run and eat this. Some runners and spectators took full advantage of the watermelon theme, by dressing in green, red, and black. Despite the discomfort, runners bravely put on their best impression of a watermelon. Like the unique costumes, Tomisato's watermelons have a unique history. The running festival is a way for the local agricultural setup to showcase the year's harvest and sell watermelon to tourists coming to participate in the road race. But now, we are winning cases, we won the big airbus case... it was the tremendous case, billions of dollars. That was the most recent victory; we are being treated more fairly now in the WTO, which we appreciate," Trump said at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the ongoing G-7 summit here.
