World Sindhi Congress protests outside UN office in Geneva against human rights abuse by Pakistan

Geneva (Switzerland), Sep 10 (ANI): World Sindhi Congress (WSC) held a protest outside the United Nations office in Geneva against Pakistan for continued human rights violations in Balochistan, Sindh and other regions in the country. The 42nd session of (UNHRC) United Nations Human Rights Council is underway in the Switzerland city, Geneva. World Sindhi Congress chairman Dr Lakhu Luhana said the protestors gathered outside the UN office in Geneva to highlight the rampant human rights violations taking place in various regions of Pakistan against Sindhis, Balochis, Pashtuns and others, adding that only UN can help the persecuted communities as they don't have any hope from Pakistani establishment since the entire control was with the Army, which did not understand "logic" and "human rights".

Nepal, China ink three agreements during Chinese FM's visit

Kathmandu (Nepal), Sep 10 (ANI): Nepal and China exchanged three agreements following bilateral talks between the Nepalese Minister of Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali and his visiting Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. People in illegally-occupied Gilgit Baltistan demand release of innocents languishing in jails

Hunza, Gilgit Baltistan, Sep 10, 2019:- Aseeran Hunza Rehai Committee, a local political entity which roughly translates to Committee for the freedom of Hunza's incarcerated citizens, recently issued an ultimatum to Islamabad and the men it has installed to govern the illegally occupied region of Gilgit Baltistan. The committee said that it will launch a string of anti-government protests in the region and abroad, if an action into releasing innocents, who have been languishing in jails for years now, is not initiated immediately. The fourteen prisoners this committee talked about were charged with sedition following a confrontation between the police and protesters in August 2011. They were subsequently sentenced an unfair jail term which they continue to serve even today. The residents of the region however say that they went to jail owing to a politically motivated bogus investigation into the issue.

Nepal government hands over reconstructed houses to tornado-hit people

Nepal witnesses alarming rise in dengue cases; number doubles in week

Kathmandu (Nepal), Sep 06 (ANI): At least three people have been killed as a result of dengue in various parts of Nepal and the number of those affected by the vector-borne disease has also been doubled within a week. As per the record provided by the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division under the Department of Health, a number of infected with dengue were 1,537 till last Wednesday but in a week it had doubled nearly by twofold with the number standing at 2,559. Tension and fear have gripped the Nepali capital with an increase in the number of dengue cases. Citizens of Lagan took a sigh of relief on Thursday as insecticides were sprayed in and around their locality. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City have started spraying insecticide with the help of a Korean organisation. The KMC has been carrying out this work especially in alleys and old residential areas of the city where the drainage system is a serious problem.

Animal Activists in Nepal protest after recent killings of cows and dogs

Kathmandu (Nepal), Sep 05 (ANI): Animal activists in Nepal on Wednesday gathered at Maitighar Mandala to protest against the recent incident of killing of cows and dogs in Surkhet and Khotang District. About 25 cows were found dead and over 100 were thrown off the slopes in Nepal's Surkhet district last week. On the other hand, municipal officials in Khotang were seen killing a dog brutally in a video. The incidents enraged the public who carried out a protest in the capital Kathmandu. They were seen holding placards and banners decrying inhuman behaviour against animals. Even though a complaint has been filed against the suspects involved in the incidents, the rage among the locals has not died down yet. Activists at the protest outlined the grave condition of animals in Nepal, claiming that the government itself is violating the provisions of animal right laws. Activists during the protest held placards and chanted slogans against animal brutality.
