COVID-19: Death toll reaches 2663 in China, Kuwait confirms 1st case

New Delhi, Feb 25 (ANI): The world continues to shed tears due to the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus. South Korea has reported 60 new cases of coronavirus as well as new fatality, taking the total number to 893, with overall number of deaths touching to 8. In past 24 hours, Kuwait has also reported first case of COVID-19. Meanwhile, death toll in China has reached to 2663. Around 79,331 cases have been confirmed globally, according to World Health Organization report. The virus has spread to over 24 countries since December after it first originated from China's Wuhan city.

Protestors put poster, props against Pak Army outside UNHRC in Geneva

Geneva (Switzerland), Feb 25 (ANI): Several protestors gathered outside the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) headquarter in Geneva, displaying a cage-like structure incarcerating mannequins portraying women in a symbolic enactment of the atrocities carried out by the Pakistani Army. The scenario displayed the atrocities and sufferings of women and children in the hands of the Pakistani Army. A banner with the slogan -- 'Pakistan Army Stop Supporting Terrorism' -- was also displayed outside the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) headquarters here at a time when the 43rd session of the UN body was underway. It was displayed as a mark of protest against the Pakistani Army, which is continually accused of supporting terrorism.

India, Pakistan treated on their own merits: Dhruva Jaishankar on Trump's standalone visit

Washington DC (USA), Feb 24 (ANI): Speaking on US President's standalone visit to India, Director of US Initiative at Observer Research Foundation in Washington DC, Dhruva Jaishankar said that it's a break over past 10 years during which India and Pakistan are treated on their own merits. "There used to be a pattern where India was often hyphenated with Pakistan. President Clinton and Bush went to both places, although President Bush made a short visit to Pak. We've seen a break over past 10 years (to this), India and Pakistan are treated on their own merits," Jaishankar told ANI. "Focus will, of course, be on optics of Pres Trump's visit, particularly the major rally event in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and bilateral meetings that will take place in Delhi," said Director of US initiative at ORF on US President Donald Trump's visit," Jaishankar added.

Protest held against enforced disappearances in Karachi

Karachi (Pakistan), Feb 24 (ANI): A massive protest was held outside the Karachi press club against the rising incidents of enforced disappearances in the Pakistani city and other parts of Sindh province in the country. The protesters raised pro-freedom slogans and demanded release of hundreds of Sindhi political activists languishing in detention centres. The purpose of the demonstration was to raise voice against the heinous practice of enforced disappearances perpetrated by the security agencies of Pakistan in Sindh province. Protesters demanded the government of Pakistan to end human rights violation and release all those missing from Sindh, Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; if those missing are involved in crimes or anti-state -activities, they must be presented in courts of the law and be given a chance of fair trials which is their fundamental right.

Rising threats in Asia to trigger deeper India-US defence collaboration: Richard Rossow

Washington DC (USA), Feb 24 (ANI): Speaking on US President Donald Trump's visit to India, Wadhwani Chair in US-India Policy Studies at Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Richard Rossow said the two governments are coming closer for deeper defence collaboration in view of the rising security threats in Asia. "It's going to be an exciting trip. We are all hoping that there would be a mini trade deal, but it looks like that is not going to happen. I think the two governments (India-US) are coming close together in terms of how they look at some of the rising threats in Asia on security front. That's going to trigger deeper defence collaboration," said Rossow.

Shatrughan Sinha meets Pak President in Lahore

He said, "We can have a trade deal with India, but I am really saving the big deal for later, may be before elections. But we will have a very big deal with India". He further talked about his excitement for the India visit and said, "I happen to like Prime Minister Narendra Modi a lot. He told me we will have 7 million people between the airport and the event. Protestors demand justice for Mahek Kumari, demonstrate outside Pak High Commission

London (UK), Feb 18 (ANI): Several protestors protested outside High Commission of Pakistan in London to seek justice for Mahek Kumari on February 17. Mehak is a minor Hindu girl, who was forcibly converted into Islam and married to a Muslim man. Slogans of justice for Mahek Kumari were raised by the protestors. Mehak was abducted by a middle-aged man, identified as Ali Raza, from the Jacobabad district of Sindh province on January 15. The protests have been held for consecutive 2 days.

Kashmiri resistance intensifying against Pakistani oppression

Pakistan occupied Kashmir, February 18, 2020 - Pakistan has used almost every international platform to peddle lies about Kashmir. It has been making tall claims of being the defender of Kashmiri Human rights. But, it has not uttered even a single word about widespread human rights violations in Pakistan occupied Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. The human rights of people living here have been trampled upon by successive Pakistani regimes. While the land and resources have been plundered through tricks and intimidation, the indigenous people continue to remain deprived of their fundamental rights. 'Covid-19' death toll crosses 1700 in China

New Delhi, Feb 17 (ANI): The death toll from the Novel Coronavirus jumped over 1700 in China. According to World Health Organization, a Chinese tourist suffering from the deadly disease died in France. Around 51,857 cases have been confirmed around the globe in last 24 hours, reported WHO. The virus has since December spread to several countries across the world, including India.

'COVID-19' death toll in China reaches 1,380, confirmed cases surge to 64,000

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): The death toll from the Novel Coronavirus outbreak in mainland China has risen to 1380, while the number of confirmed cases has reached 63,851, country's National Health Commission said on Feb 14. Over 100s of health care workers have been stricken by the virus. The new strain of coronavirus originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan and has since then spread to several countries across the world, including India.

Request banks to take back 100 percentage of their principal amount: Vijay Mallya

London (UK), Feb 14 (ANI): Liquor tycoon Vijay Mallya once again asked the Indian banks to take back 100 per cent of the principal amount owed to them at the end of his three-day British High Court appeal on Thursday against an extradition order to India. On being asked that he will give the money back to Indian banks, Mallya said, "CBI and ED have been unreasonable, all they have been doing to me over the past 4 years is totally unreasonable. I request the banks with folded hands to take 100 per cent of your principal back immediately."

Pashtuns hold anti-Pakistan protest in Paris

Paris (France), Feb 09 (ANI): A large number of Pashtuns living in France and Europe gathered outside Pakistan embassy in Paris on February 08 to protest against the abduction of Manzoor Pashteen. Manzoor Pashteen is a human rights activist and founder of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM). Protestors chanted freedom slogans and blamed Pakistan Army for terror in the Pashtun dominated areas of Pakistan. Manzoor Pashteen was taken into custody in Peshawar along with nine others from his Pashtun Protection Movement on January 26. Pashteen has drawn tens of thousands to rallies in cities around Pakistan accusing the government and army of human rights abuses. Pashtuns living in Pakistan and across the world are protesting against the arrest of Manzoor Pashteen.
