Fans have pinned their hopes on Jadeja. Fans also expect Jadeja to win the man of the match while being confident of India's win. One of the fans said, "We have our hopes pinned on Jadeja. We are happy that his debut is happening on his home ground. He may claim the man of the match if he takes five wickets."

Rajkot (Gujarat), Oct 05 (ANI): Team India shined bright in the first innings by putting a mammoth total of 649 on boards in Rajkot against West Indies in the opening match. Three centuries were scored by the Indian batsmen including Ravindra Jadeja at his home ground. Jadeja said that he is playing Test matches since last 10 years and has been a consistent performer for India. "Team management chooses players according to opposition and balancing the team by number of right or left handed batsmen in the team", said Jadeja. "I would like to dedicate special century to my mother", Jadeja added. West Indies struggled and lost six wickets in 94 runs at the end of second day of the first Test match.

Rajkot (Gujarat), Oct 04 (ANI): 18-year-old debutant Prithvi Shaw shined bright in his debut by becoming the second youngest Indian batsman to score a century and youngest to score a century in debut. He played a remarkable knock of 134 with excellent 19 boundaries. He said that he never felt under pressure when he was on strike. "I love to dominate the bowlers and wait for lose balls to strike, that is what I did and I was never under pressure during my innings", said while talking to ANI.

4th Asian Pencak Silat Championship concludes in Srinagar

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), Oct 04 (ANI): The 4th Asian Pencak Silat Championship concluded in Srinagar on Thursday. The purpose of this championship was to promote the Pencak Silat sports in Jammu and Kashmir, and provide proper platform to the youth of Valley in the field of sports. Around 250 players and officials from 10 countries including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Republic of Korea, Chinese Taipei, Bangladesh, Nepal, Philippines and India participated in the 3-day event. The championship was organised for the first time ever in Jammu and kashmir by Indian Pencak Silat Federation in collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Sports Authority of India and Jammu and kashmir State Sports Council. Locals and participants, both, were enthusiastic as they got the chance to be a part of the international championship.

Mumbai, Oct 04 (ANI): 18-year-old Prithvi Shaw on his dream debut become the second youngest Indian batsman to score a century after legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Family and friends of Shaw celebrated this achievement with joy. They burst crackers and distributed sweets on Shaw's amazing triumph. Shaw became the 15th Indian batsman to score century in debut. Prithvi did a fabulous job on the first day of opening Test match against West Indies. He scored 134 runs in the 1st innings of opening Test match against West Indies.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 03 (ANI): Arjuna awardee athlete and Asian Games silver medalist Sudha Singh urged the Uttar Pradesh Government to provide the job in the sports department. "I didn't ask him (CM Yogi) for a job. He himself offered me position of Deputy SP. Then I said that according to my medals, I want to join as Deputy Director in sports dept. He agreed. I've faith in him. I'm at a gazetted post in railway dept in Mumbai", said Sudha Singh. "I wanted to contribute to sports and that's why I wanted to work in sports department in UP. If there is even a single certificate missing, I'll apologise for demanding this job", she added. In August, Sudha accepted the job offered by Yogi Government.

Sachin Tendulkar visits Mumbai School to raise awareness about cleanliness

Mumbai, Oct 01 (ANI): Sachin Tendulkar on Monday visited Pali Chimbai Upper Primary English School in Mumbai's Bandra to educate and spread awareness about importance of cleanliness among school children. Tendulkar interacted with the students and talked about the importance of cleanliness. He also cleaned the school premises along with the students. Students made collage raising awareness about clean environment. Sachin also played cricket with students and signed a cricket bat for them. Sachin Tendulkar was appointed as the brand ambassador of Swachh Bharat Mission by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014. Sachin said, "After spending time with the children, I remembered my childhood days. Today our main motive was to clean school ground."

Sachin Tendulkar flags off Mumbai Half Marathon

Mumbai, Sep 30 (ANI): Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar flagged off the third edition of Mumbai Half Marathon on Sunday morning. Around 17,000 people participated in the event. The marathon began from Jio Gardens in suburban Bandra Kurla Complex. The marathon has been certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races in association with the Athletics Federation of India. The event is organised in three categories, 10K and 5K Fun Run and 21k Half Marathon.
