Odisha CM Patnaik inaugurates Asia Rugby Sevens U18 Girls Championship

Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Oct 27 (ANI): Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated Asia Rugby Sevens U18 Girls Championship at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Friday. It is the first time that Rugby championship of international level is being held in India. Hong Kong, China, UAE, Philippines, Laos, Qatar, Nepal and China are participating in the championship apart from India. Odisha CM also felicitated Asian Games 2018 gold medalist Swapna Barman on the occasion. India defeated UAE by 22-5 in the opening game.

BCCI announces team for upcoming T20s, Dhoni missing from squads

Pune (Maharashtra), Oct 27 (ANI): The Board of Control of Cricket in India announced Indian squads for the three T20I match series against West Indies, team for three T20I match series against four Test match series against Australia. Indian ace wicket keeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was not included in the both T20 squads. "Virat Kohli (C), Rohit (vc), Shikhar, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Manish, DK, Rishabh Pant (wk), Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav, Khaleel will play against Australia, and Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, DK, Manish, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (wk), Krunal Pandya, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Bumrah, Khaleel Ahmed, Umesh Yadav, Shahbaz Nadeem will players under captaincy of Rohit Sharma in T20 against West Indies", announced BCCI Secretary Amitabh Choudhary on Friday. Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Oct 25 (ANI): Riding on the back of a valiant century by wicketkeeper Shai Hope and a cameo by Shemron Hetmyer, West Indies were able bring a nerve-wracking one-day international (ODI) against India to a tie score by equalling India's 321-run total in Visakhapatnam, on Wednesday. Youth Olympics: Suraj Panwar bags silver in Men's 5000m race walk

New Delhi, Oct 16 (ANI): Indian athlete Suraj Panwar won a silver medal in Men's 5000m Race Walk event at the ongoing third edition of the Youth Olympic Games. The 17-year-old finished second on the podium with a clock timing of 20:35.87 and 20:23.30 in two stages of the competition The medal was India's first in the athletics category of the current edition of the Youth Olympics. Junior men's hockey team receives warm welcome in Delhi after winning silver

New Delhi, Oct 15 (ANI): The junior men's hockey team of India arrived in New Delhi after it won a silver medal at 8th Sultan of Johor Cup 2018 held in Malaysia. They were welcomed at Indira Gandhi International Airport. The team scored 19 goals in the six matches the team played and gave a tough competition to the opponent. One of the players said, "We had new boys with less experience otherwise we could have won gold. Nevertheless we gave a tough fight to the opponent".

Hyderabad, Oct 14 (ANI): Indian cricket team captain applauded Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw for winning man of the series in his maiden Test series against West Indies today. "Getting Man of the Series in your first series regardless of where you play and how you play is an outstanding achievement", said Virat Kohli. India won the 10th consecutive Test match at home with this victory. Prithvi Shaw scored consistently in the series with a debut 100 and a half century.
