Hapur boy Kartik Tyagi selected for U-19 cricket team

Hapur (UP), June 28 (ANI): Kartik Tyagi of Uttar Pradesh's Hapur has been selected for the Under-19 cricket team. He will be seen playing as fast bowler in U-19 cricket tournament. The All-India Junior Selection Committee picked the India U-19 team for the one-day Tri-series in England starting from July 21, 2019. India will play the U-19 sides of hosts England and Bangladesh in the tournament. There is a wave of happiness in the family and among the villagers. Kartik's father is a small farmer and has a big contribution in the boy's success. The match will be held between India, Bangladesh and England. He told the media that he got a call from BCCI manager, giving him the news of being selected in the team.

CWC: Fans hopeful of India's victory against West Indies

Manchester (UK), Jun 27 (ANI): India will take on West Indies in their fifth match of World Cup today. Indian cricket fans flocked to Old Trafford stadium to witness the exciting clash and expressed confidence in the team.While speaking to ANI, one of the fans said, "We have done so well so far. It's looking good. Main thing against West Indies is keeping them down. We have got good batsman so we can do it. We have Kohli and he is in good form." Another fan said, "India got to win. We have got the right team for it, we have Kohli, Bumrah. I am pretty sure, we will win." One of the fans said, "I am really looking forward to it. I am hoping for the lots of runs, lots of sixes and lots of boundaries. Either team win, I am happy with it. I am just looking for a good game." So far, India has won its all the four matches in the tournament.

Don't think who made policies ever represented their state for sports: Vinesh Phogat

Sonipat (Haryana), Jun 27 (ANI): Indian Wrestler Vinesh Phogat expressed her views on Haryana's sports policy. While speaking to media personnel, Phogat said, "Earlier, Haryana's sports policy was the best in the world but in last 4-5 years, no athlete has been benefited, be it a team game or individual game. Anil Vij (Haryana Sports Minister) calls it the best policy, it definitely isn't. I don't think that the ones who made these policies have ever represented their state even for sports. We are athletes, we represent the whole country."

FIH finals: Triumphant Indian women's hockey team returns to India

New Delhi, Jun 25 (ANI): Triumphant Indian women's hockey team arrived at the Delhi airport today. They returned to India after winning the FIH (Federation Internationale de Hockey) Women's Series Finals in Japan against the host country. India defeated host Japan by 3-1 in the final on June 23. While speaking to ANI, Indian women's hockey team goalkeeper and Vice-Captain Savita Punia said, "Our experience there was really good, we went there with a target and achieved it which has made us really happy. We achieved our goal of winning there, winning against Japan in the finals was good but ranks really don't matter today." The team had defeated the tournament hosts Japan by 3-1 at the Hiroshima Hockey Stadium.

Dhawan ruled out of ICC World Cup, Rishabh Pant likely to replace

Southampton (UK), Jun 19 (ANI): While addressing the press conference, Team India Manager Sunil Subramaniam said, "Shikhar Dhawan has a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal of his left hand. He will remain in cast until mid-July which rules him out of ICC World Cup. We have requested Rishabh Pant as the replacement." Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of World Cup 2019 as his is not in a position to recover in time from a thumb fracture. During a fixture against Australia on June 09, he was hit by a Pat Cummins bouncer.

CWC'19: India beat Pakistan by 89 runs in rain-hit match

Manchester (UK), Jun 17 (ANI): Brilliant knocks from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli before the magnificent spells by the bowling unit guided India to beat Pakistan by 89 runs at the Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday. With the win, India's head-to-head record against Pakistan in World Cup matches now sits at 7-0. The rain interrupted the match after 35 overs. However after almost 50 minutes, the match was curtailed to 40 overs and the run-chase was adjusted to 302 runs bases on the Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method. Rohit Sharma won Man of the Match.

'Dark Phoenix' has worst opening in X- Men history at US Box Office

New Delhi, June 10, ANI: Falling short of expectations, Sophie Turner starrer 'Dark Phoenix' failed to catch fire at the box office. The latest installment in the Disney- Fox's 'X- Men' franchise, 'Dark Phoenix' just managed to reach a USD 34 Million opening in the weekend, after minting about USD 14 Million on Friday, making it the worst debut for an X- Men Movie. Dark Phoenix is written and directed by Simon Kinberg who also served as the scriptwriter for the 2006's 'X-Men: The Last Stand'. 'The Secret life of Pets 2' which is a sequel to the 2016 animated film, on the other hand, left the X- Men film behind by collecting USD 46.1 Million. However, the collection was 15 percent lower than the original flick.

India participates for 1st time in World Rafting Championship
