Mumbai, Feb 18 (ANI): Cricket legend, Sachin Tendulkar, launched the new BMW i8 hybrid sports car in showbiz capital Mumbai on Wednesday. The i8 is the first car from BMW 'I' series that is introduced to the Indian car market. The car will be sold in Mumbai, New Delhi and Chennai only and is the first BMWs sports and hybrid car. The car is powered by a 1.5 -litre turbo petrol engine (231bhp) and a 131bhp electric motor, which together produce 362bhp of power. This engine comes mated to a six-speed StepTronic transmission. Running on battery power, it achieves a top speed of 120 km/hr and will travel only for 35 kilometres at one go.

Ahmedabad, Jan 29 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel laid the foundation stone of Maruti Suzuki's car manufacturing plant in Ahmedabad city. Japan's Suzuki group plans to set up three plants in Hansalpur village of Ahmedabad, which will exclusively supply to Maruti Suzuki India Limited. The plant is likely to start production in mid-2017. The foundation stone laying ceremony was held in the presence of Japanese ambassador to India, Takeshi Yagi, Chairman and CEO Suzuki Motor Corporation, Osamu Suzuki, and Chairman of Maruti Suzuki India, RC Bhargava. While addressing a gathering, Suzuki said that setting up of the manufacturing facility was beginning of a new era and also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' initiative. Bengaluru, Jan 17 (ANI): India's third-biggest software services company Wipro reported a near-9 percent rise in third-quarter profit, slightly ahead of analysts' forecasts, helped by a rise in clients' technology spending. The company said revenue from its IT services business is expected to be $1.8 billion to $1.85 billion in the January-March period, representing growth of up to 3.4 percent from the preceding quarter. Wipro also announced the appointment of Jatin Dalal, senior vice president in the finance department, to take over from retiring CFO Suresh Senapaty from April.
