New Delhi, Aug 22 (ANI): A massive fire broke out in a building in Delhi's Paharganj area on Wednesday. After receiving the information about the incident, the police immediately rushed to the spot and saved the life of a couple who were trapped in the building. Mumbai, Aug 16 (ANI): Hitting a fresh record low, the Indian Rupee on Thursday opened at 70.22 versus the US dollar. Amid the Turkey crisis, the Indian currency started off the session on a weak note, hitting a fresh record low of 70.25 against the dollar. On Tuesday, after opening at a marginal high of 69.85 against the US Dollar, the Indian rupee touched an all-time low of 70 per US dollar. The currency touched an all-time low of 70.08 against the US dollar, while marking depreciation of around 10 percent in 2018. The fall in rupee was mainly impacted by drop in Turkish Lira, which helped the US dollar to gained strength on the back of fears that economic crisis in Turkey could spread to other global economies.
Mumbai, New Delhi, Aug 13 (ANI): The rupee on Monday touched an all-time low of 69.62 per dollar in early trade, tracking broader weakness in other emerging market currencies on concerns of a spill-over from a crisis-hit Turkey. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was seen intervening to stem a sharp fall in the rupee, two dealers said. The rupee reversed marginally from its record lows to trade at 69.53 to the dollar. It had ended at 68.84 to the dollar on August 10. The 10-year benchmark bond yield rose to 7.80 percent from its previous close of 7.75 percent, tracking the weakness in rupee. Investors preferred safe-havens such as the U.S. dollar and the yen after a plunge in the Turkish Lira sent all emerging market currencies sharply lower. The lira has fallen about 45 percent against the greenback this year on worries over Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan's increasing control of the economy and a deepening diplomatic rift with the United States.

New Delhi, Aug 08 (ANI): The Centre has appointed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)-affiliate Swadeshi Jagaran Manch co-convenor Swaminathan Gurumurthy and businessman Satish Kashinath Marathe to the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The names were approved on Tuesday as per provisions of Section 8 1C of the RBI Act, 1934 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. They have been appointed as a part-time, non-official director for the period of four-year. With the two new appointments, the total number of government-appointed directors on the RBI board has reached 10.
New Delhi, Aug 04 (ANI): The 29th Goods and Services Tax (GS) Council meet was chaired by Finance Minister Piyush Goyal at Vigyan Bhavan on Saturday. "Law Committee will take decisions related to law. Fitment Committee will take decisions related to rates", said Piyush Goyal after the meeting. "GST council has decided to form a sub committee under the leadership of Shiv Pratap Shukla, Minister of State for Finance. Delhi Finance Minister Manish Sisodia, Finance Minister of Punjab and Finance Minister of Kerala will be a part of this committee", he added.

After slashing rates of around 88 items in the last meeting, the 29th meeting of the GST council is expected to focus on the ailing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector. Snapcash started as a way of splitting bills among friends, ended up being used as a way of exchanging private content.
