The day temperature plunged to 18.5 degrees Celsius, two notches below the normal, the lowest maximum temperature recorded so far this season, the MeT office said. The humidity oscillated between 100 and 55 per cent. The weatherman has forecast clear skies for Saturday along with moderate to dense fog in the morning and haze or smoke thereafter. "Cold wave will continue at isolated places. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover at around 20 and 3 degrees respectively," the weatherman. On Thursday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 3.6 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest December day in the national capital since 2014. Sikkim saw the first snowfall of the season on Friday giving the tourists to the Himalayan state reason to cheer. Snowfall in the state usually takes place in January while it does not snow in the capital city Gangtok. Intense cold wave continued in Himachal Pradesh with Keylong recording a low of minus 11.4 degrees Celsius and popular tourist destination Manali reeling at minus 5.4 degrees Celsius after fresh snowfall, the local MeT centre said Friday. The minimum temperature in Sikar and Mount Abu -- the state's only hill station -- was recorded at one degrees Celsius, the Meteorological Department (Met) report said. Nashik in north Maharashtra is shivering under a cold spell with the mercury plummeting to 1.8 degrees Celsius in parts of the district. Manali and Kalpa in Himachal Pradesh received fresh snowfall on Wednesday night, the Meteorological department said. Rain and snowfall is also predicted in isolated parts of the state between December 30 and January 3. While Kalpa received 5 cm snowfall, Manali received 3 cm snowfall, Director of MeT Centre, Shimla, Manmohan Singh said Thursday.
