The meteorological department (MeT) officials said while Adampur reeled at 2.6 degree Celsius, Amritsar and Halwara recorded minimum temperatures of 3 degree Celsius and 3.1 degrees Celsius respectively. Ludhiana braved the chill at 5.5 degree Celsius, Patiala at 5.6 degree Celsius, Bathinda at 4.8 degree Celsius and Faridkot at 4 degree Celsius, the MeT officials said. The temperature at most places in the state has dropped by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius because of the snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh, a MeT official said Monday. The cold wave conditions will prevail over Rajasthan with 2 to 3 degrees Celsius drop in the minimum temperature in the coming days, MeT regional centre director Shiv Ganesh said. Vehicular movement on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, the only all-weather road linking the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country, was partially restored on Sunday, a day after it was disrupted due to heavy snowfall, a traffic department official said. One-way traffic from Jammu towards Srinagar was allowed in view of the improvement in the weather and after clearing the snow on the road, he said. The flight operations at Srinagar airport were also restored on Sunday, after two days of being affected due to snowfall, officials said. On Saturday, the plains in the Valley witnessed one of the heaviest snowfalls in the recent years, leading to disruption of surface as well as air traffic. Higher reaches of Uttarakhand hills received fresh snowfall on Saturday while overcast conditions prevailed at most places in the plains. The Himalayan shrines of Kedarnath in Rudraprayag and Badrinath in Chamoli district, besides the skiing slopes of Auli, received fresh spells of snow in the morning and afternoon, the meteorological department said.
