Jewar airport land acquisition: CM Yogi assures compensation to farmers

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday assured a group of farmers that a mutually agreed compensation will be paid for the land to be acquired for the Jewar international airport's second phase, an official spokesperson said. The state government wants farmers of the state to be happy and those displaced should be rehabilitated wherever they want, he said, while addressing the farmers, who came from Jewar to meet him at his official residence. In the first phase of the airport, the state government had got 3,300 acre of land. The chief minister said that the project will be completed in time.

Mulayam Singh cremated in Saifai, people pay respects in large numbers

Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav was cremated at his native Saifai village in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday afternoon. The Samajwadi Party founder and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister had died aged 82 at a private hospital in Haryana's Gurugram on Monday. His body was brought to Saifai on Monday evening. A large number of people and dignitaries turned up for his funeral in Saifai on Tuesday.

Uttar Pradesh ATS arrests 8 suspects with links to terror outfits

Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested eight suspected terrorists having links with Al Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent and its affiliate Jamaat-Ul-Mujahideen from different places, officials said on Monday. Eight suspects have been arrested from different places in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, UP Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said in a statement. The arrested suspects have been identified as Lukman, Mohammad Alim of Gagalhedi, Kari Mukhtar of Manoharpur, Kamil of Deoband, all hailing from Saharanpur district, Shahzad of Jhinjhana in Shamli district, and Mudassir of Haridwar (Uttarakhand), the statement said, adding that Ali Noor, a Bangladeshi national, and Nawazish Ansari of Jharkhand have also been arrested. According to the statement, electronic evidence of terror funding and jihadi literature have been recovered from the suspects which confirm their affiliation with the terrorist organizations. Mulayam's body arrives at native village, people throng to pay tributes

Chants of "Netaji amar rahein" reverberated across Saifai as people from across length and breadth of Uttar Pradesh thronged socialist leader Mulayam Singh Yadav's native village for his last darshan Monday. Yadav passed away Monday morning at a private hospital in Gurugram and his mortal remains reached here in the evening. The body of the Samajwadi Party patriarch has been kept at his kothi and the cremation will take place on Tuesday afternoon.
