Rs 9,494 cr spent on railway projects in Telangana in 8 years: Kishan Reddy

: The NDA government at the Centre has spent nearly Rs 9,494 crore during the past eight years on 12 new major railway projects in Telangana, Union Minister of Tourism G Kishan Reddy said on Friday. Speaking at a function marking the dedication of a new railway line between Medak- Akanapet railway stations to the nation at Medak, Reddy said the Indian Railways has been taking several measures on the safety front resulting in a lesser number of accidents year on year. He said the Centre is proposing to set up a railway coach overhauling unit at Warangal with an investment of Rs 400 crore. The facility is expected to provide employment to 3,000 people. "During the past eight years, 12 new (major) projects have been taken up in Telangana...Rs 9,494 crore was spent during the past eight years for development in Telangana. As many as 43 railway stations in the state were modernised under Kavach (A state-of-the-art electronic system which was designed to help the Indian Railways achieve .

'Start respecting local languages,' Telangana Minister KTR tells IndiGo

Telangana Minister for IT and Industries K T Rama Rao has asked IndiGo Airlines to start respecting local languages after news emanated that a Telugu passenger was asked to vacate her seat at the exit as she reportedly failed to understand security procedures explained in English and Hindi. KCR unfurls tricolour to mark 75 years of Hyderabad's annexation

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday unfurled the national flag on Telangana Jateeya Samaikyata Dinotsavam (Telangana National Integration Day) here, to mark 75 years of Hyderabad's annexation to the Indian union. Rao unfurled the tricolour few minutes after Union Minister Amit Shah hoisted the flag at parade grounds marking the celebrations of Hyderabad Liberation Day' elsewhere in the city. In his address, he said, My heartfelt wishes to the people of Telangana on the occasion of Telangana Jateeya Samaikyata Dinotsavam. On September 17, 1948 Telangana became an integral part of India. Telangana CM KCR decides to name new Secretariat after B R Ambedkar

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday decided to name the State's new Secretariat, which is under construction, after B R Ambedkar. AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, CPI and CPI(M) welcomed the decision while State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar said Rao should also keep his promise made during the separate Telangana agitation that a Dalit leader would be made Chief Minister of the new State. Following Rao's decision, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar issued a government order (GO) naming the Secretariat after Ambedkar. It is a matter of pride for Telangana people to name the new Secretariat building after Ambedkar, a CMO release quoted Rao as saying. Telangana logs 111 new Covid-19 cases; TRS MLC Kavitha tests positive

Telangana on Monday recorded 111 new COVID-19 cases, taking the overall caseload to 8, 36,052. Hyderabad district saw the highest number of cases with 52. A bulletin said 129 people recuperated from the infection and the cumulative number of recoveries was 8,31,085 till date. The recovery rate rose to 99.41 per cent. No fresh fatality due to the infection occurred and the death toll continued to be 4,111. The bulletin said 10,288 samples were tested today. The number of active cases was 856. Meanwhile, TRS MLC, in her twitter handle, said she has tested positive for COVID-19. After developing flu-like symptoms, I got myself tested for COVID-19 and my reports were positive. I request everybody who has come in contact with me in last 48 hours to kindly isolate and get themselves tested, if they develop any symptoms, she tweeted.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday, for the first time, made some reference about his proposed national party and launched a broadside against the BJP-led NDA government, accusing it of crony capitalism and others. KCR, as Rao is known, was speaking in the Legislative Assembly on a short discussion on 'Central Electricity Bill - Ramifications' . "As if they have taken a contract, (they ask) you will start a national party? If not we, is it you? Is it we who have national character or you? KCR's statement on the floor of the House comes a day after his office stated "very soon, the formation of a national party and formulation of its (national party) policies will take place." KCR eyes electoral pie beyond Telangana, to launch national party

Ending speculations, Telangana Rashtra Samithi President and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday said he would launch a national party following more discussions with a cross-section of society.
