The Telangana government has withdrawn general consent given to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the state. According to a state government order issued on August 30, prior consent of Telangana is required for the central probe agency on a case-to-case basis to investigate in the state. Though the government order (GO) was issued two months ago, it did not figure in the public domain until Saturday when the Additional Advocate General (AAG) informed the Telangana High Court, during arguments on a petition filed by the BJP seeking a CBI probe into the TRS MLAs poaching case, that the general consent for CBI was withdrawn by the state government. The north-eastern states which are over and again using these facilities are Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland. The central bank offers three short-term liquidity windows -- special drawing facility (SDF; for 5 working days), ways and means advances (WMA, for 5 working days) and over draft (OD, for 14 working days) facilities to states to tide over their liquidity needs. One of the main reasons for the states to use these windows is the cheaper pricing than market borrowings. Till August, states have availed SDF facility at an average rate of 3.2-4.2 per cent, while state bonds are priced at 7.8 per cent or more. Telangana police aims to install 15 lakh CCTV cameras across the state even as six lakh have been set up in the capital Hyderabad so far, Telangana Director General of Police M Mahendar Reddy said on Friday. He was speaking at Police Commemoration Day here. The police department so far has installed over 10 lakh CCTV cameras across the state in villages and towns with public cooperation. In Hyderabad city alone there are nearly six lakh cameras. In the coming days, the state police is moving forward with an aim to install 15 lakh CCTV cameras throughout the state," Reddy said. Pharmaceuticals firm Hetero on Monday said it has acquired the manufacturing plant of Johnson & Johnson at Penjerla in Telangana and will invest additional Rs 600 crore on its upgradation. According to sources, the company has acquired the plant for Rs 130 crore. The facility is spread across 55.27 acres and will be Hetero's flagship sterile pharmaceutical and biologics manufacturing unit and will generate 2,000 new jobs, the company said in a statement. "We are committed to an investment upwards of USD 75 million, (approximately Rs 600 crore) to upgrade and enhance existing facilities at the site and expand manufacturing of our global biologics and sterile pharmaceutical products," Hetero Managing Director Vamsi Krishna Bandi said.
