Telangana state Budget pegs Rs 2.9 trillion expenditure for 2023-24

Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Monday introduced the State Budget in the Assembly with any expenditure outlay of Rs 2,90,396 crore for 2023-24. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's brainchild Dalit Bandhu scheme was allotted Rs Rs 17,700 crore. The scheme provides financial assistance at the rate of Rs 10 lakh per beneficiary to take up any business of his or her choice. In the Budget, an amount of Rs 36,750 crore is proposed as Special Development Fund for Scheduled Castes while the Medical and Health Department gets Rs 12,161 crore. Providing statistics, Harish Rao said Telangana's share in the country's GDP grew to 4.89 per cent in 2020-21 from 4.1 per cent in 2014-15. The per capita income of Telangana is estimated to increase from Rs 1,12,162 in 2013-14 to Rs 3,17,115 in 2022-23, he said. The Budget allotted Rs 2,11,685 crore towards Revenue Expenditure and Rs 37,525 crore for Capital Expenditure.

Stating that Maharashtra has recorded the highest number of farmers' suicides in the country, BRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said here on Sunday that the time has come for peasants to take the reins of the country. Addressing Bharat Rashtra Samithi's (BRS) first public meeting outside Telangana at Nanded, he said political parties and leaders are winning in polls but people are losing. "That's why BRS slogan is 'Abki ki baar, kisan sarkar' (This time around, a government for the farmers). If we unite, it is not impossible. In our country, farmers constitute more than 42 per cent and if the number of farm labourers is also added to that it will be more than 50 per cent which is sufficient to form government, Rao said. Telangana cabinet approves state Budget 2023-24; to be presented on Monday

The Telangana cabinet on Sunday approved the state budget for the fiscal year 2023-24, which is likely to be presented on February 6. According to official sources, the Cabinet met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of Rao here before he left for BRS party meeting at Nanded in Maharashtra. The Assembly session began on February 3 with Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan's address in a joint session of Legislative Assembly and Council.

The Telangana Assembly Session is all set to start from Friday with Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan's address in the joint session (Assembly and Council) on the first day. Sources said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao government has already provided a speech copy to the Governor. "Letters have been set to all MLAs and MLCs regarding the joint session and Governor's speech. The duration of the session will be decided in the Business Advisory Committee meeting after the Governor's speech," sources told PTI. The government likely to table the State Budget next week. The Governor has already issued a notification summoning the Assembly session beginning from February 3, ending speculation on whether there would be her speech or not in the session. Telangana's KT Rama Rao trains guns on BJP over price rise, communal issues

Telangana Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao launched a broadside against the BJP over the allegedly mounting debt, rise in prices of fuel in the country, communal issues and others. Addressing a public meeting at Narayanpet town after attending various development programmes on Tuesday, he alleged that the present NDA government took huge debt in eight and half years compared to all the Prime Ministers put together before PM Modi. Referring to an article written by Bibek Debroy, Chairman, Economic Advisory Council to the PM in a newspaper, allegedly favouring taxing farmers' income in India, Rama Rao said it is a horrible idea to tax the farmers. Telangana IT exports grow over 3-fold to Rs 1.83 trn in 8 years: Rama Rao

The number of employees in the IT sector in Telangana grew from 3.23 lakh in 2014 to 8.7 lakh in 2022 while IT exports rose from Rs 57,000 crore to Rs 1.83 lakh crore during the same period, IT Minister K T Rama Rao said here on Monday. Rama Rao who participated in an interactive session with IT industry leaders, organised by Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association (HYSEA) credited the outcomes achieved over the last eight years to the department concerned and the industry, an official release said. Citing Nasscom's report, the Minister said that out of the 4.5 lakh jobs created in the IT sector in India last year, 1.5 lakh or one-third of the total jobs were added by Hyderabad leaving behind Bengaluru which created 1.46 lakh jobs. "The number of employees or employers who are looking at Hyderabad is growing. I sincerely believe that this is just the beginning," the Minister said. Paddy procurement at MSP reaches 4.47 mn tonnes in Telangana till Dec 14

Paddy procurement at the minimum support price reached 44.72 lakh tonne in Telangana till December 14 of the 2022-23 kharif marketing season, Parliament was informed on Wednesday. In Telangana, procurement of paddy is undertaken by the state government through its agencies and only the surplus rice after meeting the state's requirement is delivered to Food Corporation of India (FCI) in central pool for movement to deficit/consuming states. "Up to December 14, 2022, 44.72 lakh tonne of paddy with MSP (Minimum Support Price) value of Rs 92,12.63 crore has been procured in Telangana against the estimate of 74.62 lakh tonne," Minister of State for Food and Consumer Affairs Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha. Telangana govt to release Rs 7,600 cr for Rythu Bandhu' scheme from Dec 28

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday directed State Finance Minister T Harish Rao to start releasing the crop investment - Rythu Bandhu funds for the yasangi harvest (rabi) season from December 28. An official release from the CMO said the Rythu Bandhu funds, starting from one acre as usual, would be credited to the accounts of all farmers by Sankranthi and for this, the State government would deposit Rs 7,600 crore in their bank accounts. Through the scheme, the government provides crop investment to the farmers at the rate of Rs 10,000 per acre for both Vanakalam ( Kharif)and Yasangi seasons. The scheme, considered as a revolutionary activity in the country's agriculture sector, is delivering optimum results, it said. Telangana government withdraws general consent to CBI in the state

The Telangana government has withdrawn general consent given to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the state. According to a state government order issued on August 30, prior consent of Telangana is required for the central probe agency on a case-to-case basis to investigate in the state. Though the government order (GO) was issued two months ago, it did not figure in the public domain until Saturday when the Additional Advocate General (AAG) informed the Telangana High Court, during arguments on a petition filed by the BJP seeking a CBI probe into the TRS MLAs poaching case, that the general consent for CBI was withdrawn by the state government.
