Investigation agencies on Saturday questioned Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and his MP sister Misa Bharti in connection with the railways land-for-jobs scam case here, officials said. While Yadav was quizzed by the CBI for more than eight hours, the ED questioned Bharti for over six hours, they said. In a tweet in Hindi, she said, "BJP wants to finish off the Opposition and democracy from this country. That is why it is continuously attacking the voice of the people in the Opposition." Yadav had missed three earlier dates given by the agency and arrived at the CBI headquarters here around 10:30 am according to his commitment to the Delhi High Court last week, they said. He w

Rumours, says Tejashwi Yadav on ED claims of Rs 600 cr 'proceeds of crime'

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has dubbed as "rumours" the claim of the Enforcement Directorate that proceeds of crime amounting to Rs 600 crore were detected during searches on premises owned by him and close family members. The RJD leader, who is currently away in Delhi, also said the BJP will be left embarrassed if he made public the "panchnama" (seizure list) signed after the raids. "Just recall, in 2007, transactions worth Rs 8,000 crore, including a mall and hundreds of land plots, were alleged," tweeted Yadav, in an obvious reference to the land-for-hotels 'scam' pertaining to his father Lalu Prasad's tenure as the railway minister. Now facing the heat in the land-for-jobs 'scam' pertaining to, roughly, the same period, Yadav also recalled his name being linked to a mall seized in Gurugram, which turned out to be owned by a private company. The RJD had threatened legal action against media outlets for "wrongly" reporting that Yadav, the party supremo's son and he

CBI at Rabri Devi home because of family's opposition to BJP: Tejashwi

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Monday claimed that the CBI team's visit to the residence of his mother and ex-CM Rabri Devi was a result of his family's relentless opposition to the ruling BJP at the Centre. He also asserted that his father Lalu Prasad, who has been named in the land for jobs case, had "no powers" to provide employment in exchange of favours as the then railway minister. Earlier in the day, a CBI team visited the Rabri Devi's residence here in connection with a "further probe" in the land for jobs scam case, officials said. There is no search or raid taking place, they said. "It is an open secret that probe agencies are acting against political opponents of the BJP and helping those who agree to align with that party. Examples of Ajit Pawar in Maharashtra and Mukul Roy in West Bengal are proof, the RJD leader told reporters outside the Bihar assembly. He, however, declined to comment on questions about the "timing" of the latest CBI action, which co
