Gap between civilians, security forces reducing in Kashmir: SSB official

The general atmosphere in Kashmir has undergone a positive change as the gap between civilians and security forces has reduced over the past few years, a Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) official said on Monday. There is a change in the atmosphere of the valley. Earlier, kids used to be scared of the security forces but now they have started to come closer. We will take them along and this bonding will be strengthened, SSB 10 Battalion Commandant R S Rawat told reporters here. Rawat was talking to reporters after flagging off 23 students from Government Boys Higher Secondary School Batamaloo on 'Bharat Darshan' tour, sponsored by the Ministry of Home Affairs, to Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. 2 Chinese nationals held along Indo-Nepal border by SSB, says UP Police

Two Chinese nationals roaming around the Indo-Nepal border in Sonauli area here have been detained by the Sashastra Seema Bal, the Uttar Pradesh police said on Saturday. According to police, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawans were doing routine checking along the border when they came across the foreign nationals late Friday. The foreigners were asked the reason for their visiting the area and on not getting a satisfactory answer, the jawans took them into custody. Inspector in-charge of Sonauli police station, Abhishek Singh said intelligence agencies are questioning the duo. "Both have passports of the Republic of China in the names of Zheng Yingjun (50) and Song Hui (52). Their visas to enter India have also expired. They have visited India several times in the past," he said. Singh said other agencies, including immigration, are also probing the matter.

More than 3.77 lakh candidates were selected for central government jobs by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and Railway Recruitment Board (RRBs) in the last five years, Union minister Jitendra Singh said on Wednesday. The government has already issued instructions to all ministries/departments for timely filling up of vacant posts, he said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha. Rozgar melas, being organised by the central government, are expected to act as catalyst in further employment generation and provide meaningful opportunities to the youth for their empowerment and participation in national development directly, said Singh, the minister of state for personnel. "Number of candidates selected by UPSC, SSC and RRBs, for appointment in central government during the last five years is 3,77,802," he said in a written reply to the lower house. Over 15000 posts filled in J&K govt departments in 3 years: SSB chairman

More than 15,000 vacancies in various government departments were filled in three years while the selection process for 8,000 more was in progress, Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (SSB) chairman Rajesh Sharma said. He said court litigation by aggrieved candidates is one of the major factors for the delay in the recruitment process. "Against last year's figure of 9,300, this year the SSB filled 4500 posts in various government departments and 3,400 among them are class-IV posts. A total of 1,500 posts were filled up in the year 2020," Sharma told PTI here. He said the candidates selected for the class-IV posts under phase two were handed over appointment letters at special 'Rozgar melas' presided by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha in Srinagar and Chief Secretary Arun K Mehta in Jammu recently. SSB enrollment in J&K back on track amid new measures for fair selection

Hit by scandals in the recent past, the recruitment process in Jammu and Kashmir is back on track with the Services Selection Board introducing new measures, including third-party audits and low-frequency jammers to ensure transparency and fairness. In July, the Jammu and Kashmir administration headed by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha cancelled the exams conducted for the posts of police sub-inspectors, junior engineers and finance account assistants (FAA), following allegations of paper leak and other malpractices. SSB recovers 8 Chinese drone cameras from Nepal border in Bihar, 3 held

Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) recovered eight Chinese drone cameras from the possession of three persons at the India-Nepal border in East Champaran district, informed Bihar Police on Wednesday.The three persons were then handed over to Bihar Police and sent to Judicial custody. The police have started an investigation."Eight Chinese camera drones were recovered from the possession of three people during checking by SSB at Nepal border under Kundwa Chainpur Police Station.
