Earlier, a political storm had broken out when Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that West Bengal, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh were being laggard in approving these trains
Apart from Shramik Special trains, the Indian Railways has also started operating special passenger trains between New Delhi and Bhubaneswar
Earlier, the Railways said that no waiting list tickets will be booked and passengers with confirmed tickets will be allowed to board the train
45,533 bookings worth Rs 16.15 crore have been recorded for the special trains for the next seven days, the railways said, adding that around 82,317 passengers will travel against these booking
Those boarded the train were brought from their workplace at IIT-Hyderabad campus little over 30 kms from Lingampally during the previous night
These special trains will be operated by the Railway Ministry, said Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla
The MoU was signed in the presence of Minister of State of Railways, Suresh C Angadi, and Karnataka Tourism Minister C T Ravi, Chairman Railway Board Vinod Kumar Yadav amongst others
The special trains would comprise two AC chair car, seven general chair car and three general second-class coaches
