Senior vice-president Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo on Thursday took charge as National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) president after 'incumbent' Raninder Singh went on a "prolonged leave". The Sports Ministry had issued a directive that heads of national sports federations (NSFs) cannot hold office for more than 12 years as per the National Sports Code, following which Raninder, who was re-elected NRAI president in September 2021, went on leave. The ministry had pointed out last month that Raninder had completed 12 years as president -- from December 29, 2010 to Dec 29, 2022 -- and as per the code, he cannot continue as NRAI chief any further. Milwaukee mass shooting kills teenage boy, injures 5 women, says police

A 15-year-old boy died and five young women were injured in a Milwaukee mass shooting in the latest violence to target the city's young people, police said. The 15-year-old boy died at the scene following the shooting that occurred about 11:30 p.m. Monday on the city's north side, Milwaukee police said. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office identified the boy as Davion Patterson. Five women, ages 18, 19, 21, and two 22-year-olds, were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries, police said. Investigators said they were looking for unknown suspects and trying to learn what led up to the shooting. One person has died and four are in stable condition after a shooting during a Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans, police said Monday. The New Orleans Police Department said one suspect was taken into custody shortly after the Sunday night shooting. The department said in a statement that the victims were 3 males, and 2 females. One of the victims is a juvenile. All were taken to the hospital by EMS where one male victim was later pronounced deceased. The four other victims were hospitalised in stable condition.
