Faulty project reports responsible for road accidents, says Gadkari

Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday attributed some of the road accidents to faulty project reports and stressed that companies need proper training for preparing detailed project reports for construction of highways and other roads. The Road Transport and Highways minister said that the government is encouraging use of new technologies. "Some DPRs (Detailed Project Reports) prepared by companies are worst and are responsible for road accidents," Gadkari, who is known for his frank views said at an event here. He underlined the need for organising training programme for companies preparing DPRs. "Shuruwat wahan se karo. Agar woh sudhrenege nahi, toh poora tumhara satyanash ho jayega (Beginning should be made from DPR. If the companies preparing DPRs do not improve, the problem will reoccur)," he said. Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday said that he wants to introduce skybuses on select stretches of Delhi and Haryana to reduce traffic and pollution. Gadkari further said that climate agenda is the highest priority for the government as economic growth with pollution is not a good strategy. "I want to start skybuses (mass transit service) from Dhaula Kuan to Manesar and later extend it to Sohna to reduce traffic and pollution," he said, without providing more details. The minister was addressing an event organised by Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Gadkari said his dream is to reduce import of fossil fuels in India to zero. The minister said the government's priority is to make green hydrogen from water. Sikkim road, rail connectivity projects to be completed by 2023: Minister

Capital road and rail connectivity projects of Sikkim will be completed by 2023, Union Minister for Development Of North Eastern Region (DoNER) G Kishan Reddy said. Addressing the 47th Statehood Day of Sikkim Celebrations in New Delhi on Thursday, Reddy assured of every possible support from the central government to the state. The Centre and state governments in the North East will work in tandem to ensure the overall development of the region, he said.
