Stealth guided missile destroyer Mormugao commissioned into Indian Navy

The stealth guided missile destroyer Mormugao was commissioned into the Indian Navy on Sunday. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Navy chief Admiral R Hari Kumar and Goa CM Pramod Sawant were among those present at the commissioning ceremony in Mumbai. Singh said the warship's commissioning will boost India's maritime power. He termed INS Mormugao as the most technologically advanced warship. Indian economy is among the top five economies in the world, and according to experts, will be among the top three in 2027, Singh said. The Navy chief said the commissioning of the warship, on the eve of the Goa Liberation Day, is indicative of the large strides taken in warship design and building capability over the last decade. INS Mormugao is the second of the four 'Visakhapatnam' class destroyers, indigenously designed by the Indian Navy's in-house organisation, Warship Design Bureau and constructed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, Mumbai. Rajnath Singh cites 'puranas' to underline navy's role in India's security

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday cited puranas' to underscore the important role the Indian Navy plays in the country's maritime security. Singh mentioned about puranas (sacred writings on Hindu mythology) in his speech after stealth guided missile destroyer Mormugao was commissioned into the Navy in Mumbai. Even if our puranas are mere (figment of) imagination, there is truth behind them," he said. "They are important for us, he added. I am stating all this before you as our puranas mention the importance of the sea. There is hardly a story which doesn't mention the sea. At some places (in the puranas), there is a description of Lord Vishnu's kshir sagar (ocean of milk), in some places the earth is seeking shelter in the sea due to atrocities by demons, Singh said. The defence minister said all are very well acquainted with the role of the sea in the epic Ramayana. The sea is present in all the stories. But here, I would like to mention the story about samudra manthan .

No praise enough for bravery of Indian forces in Galwan, Tawang: Rajnath

The bravery and valour displayed by the armed forces during the Galwan valley clashes and the recent face-off in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh is commendable and any amount of praise for them is not enough, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Saturday. Singh's comments during an address at industry chamber FICCI came a day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the government of downplaying the threat posed by China along the Line of Actual Control and saying it was "asleep" and not ready to accept the situation. The defence minister also took an indirect dig at Gandhi for "doubting" the government's intention in the handling of the border row with China and said politics can not be done on the basis of "falsehood". "Any amount of praise is not enough for the armed forces the way they displayed bravery and valour, be it in Galwan or Tawang," Singh said. "We have never questioned the intention of any leader in the opposition, we have only debated on the basis of ...

After the launch of the indigenously built INS Vikrant, India has started work on its second aircraft carrier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Friday. Addressing the 'Agenda Aaj Tak' programme, Singh said India became the seventh country in the world to build an aircraft carrier when it launched INS Vikrant recently. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said India neither disturbs others nor does it spare those who disturb the country. India never favoured war and violence. Congress created maximum credibility crisis in Indian politics: Rajnath

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said the Congress has created the "maximum credibility crisis" in Indian politics as there is a vast difference between the promises made by the party and their implementation. Addressing a press conference here ahead of the first phase of polling for Gujarat Assembly elections on December 1, Singh said while Congress is fighting the elections for its existence, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is in the fray to register its presence. "But it is the BJP which will win more than two-thirds of 182 seats in Gujarat as predicted by many political analysts. The trust of people in BJP increased over years and the saffron party will break all the previous records (of victory in Gujarat) and retain power," he said. Singh said India would have become the world's strongest country many years ago had the Congress delivered on the promises it made to the people while in power. "Everyone knows if there is a political party which has created the maximum amoun
