Gehlot, Pilot put up show of unity ahead of Rahul's yatra in Rajasthan

In a show of unity days after Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot called his former deputy Sachin Pilot a traitor, the two leaders seemed to put their power tussle on hold as they appeared together before the cameras. This is the Rajasthan Congress, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary said at a press conference where he held the hands of both leaders. The Congress leaders were talking to reporters after participating in a meeting on preparations for the party's Bharat Jodo Yatra, scheduled to enter Congress-run Rajasthan on December 4. Venugopal recalled former party president Rahul Gandhi's remarks in Indore Monday, when he said both Gehlot and Pilot are assets to the party. Gandhi had been asked about Gehlot's traitor remark that had seemed to queer the pitch for the Rajasthan phase of the yatra led by him. Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot have assured that the yatra (Rajasthan phase) will be the one of the most successful in the country. I am also sure that ...

With an eye on assembly polls due next year in Rajasthan, BJP chief J P Nadda will on December 1 launch the party's 'Jan Aakrosh Yatra' in the Congress-ruled state to corner the Ashok Gehlot government on issues related to farmers and governance. Nadda will flag off 51 Jan Aakrosh raths at Jaipur that will pass through all 200 assembly constituencies in the state, BJP state president Satish Poonia told reporters here. 'Gehlot calling Pilot traitor unexpected, leadership to resolve crisis'

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Friday said Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot using the term "Gaddar" (traitor) for party colleague Sachin Pilot was "unexpected". The party needs both the warring leaders, and the crisis in the Rajasthan unit will be resolved keeping in mind the interests of the organization and not individuals, he added. Ramesh, the Congress's media head, was speaking during Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra here. Gehlot, in a TV interview on Thursday, said Pilot was a "Gaddar" and cannot replace him as Rajasthan CM, drawing sharp response from his former deputy who said such "mud-slinging" would not help. Gehlot also alleged that Pilot had rebelled against the Congress in 2020 and tried to topple the party's government in Rajasthan. "Gehlot is a senior and experienced leader of the Congress. But the term used by him in an interview (for Pilot) is unexpected and even I am surprised," Ramesh said. "The party needs both Gehlot and Pilot. There are some .

BJP had no role in Rajasthan Cong rebellion: Poonia denies Gehlot's claim

Rajasthan BJP president Satish Poonia on Thursday rejected as baseless Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's allegations that his party had a role in the rebellion by a group of Congress MLAs led by Sachin Pilot in 2020. Poonia also said the BJP had nothing to do with the present crisis within the state Congress. "Gehlot has been making these allegations for the last four years and there is no basis for these allegations and BJP has nothing to do with this episode," he told reporters. In an interview to NDTV, Gehlot alleged that Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah was involved in Pilot's rebellion, when some Congress MLAs loyal to him were holed up in a Gurugram resort for more than a month. He also alleged Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan visited the rebel MLAs often and claimed he had proof that an amount of Rs 10 crore was paid to each of those legislators, including Pilot. Gehlot said Pilot is a 'gaddar' (traitor) and cannot replace him as he had revolted against the

At the same time, the opposition BJP is geared up to launch its 'Jan Akrosh Movement' from November 29 to counter the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' and corner the Gehlot government at a time when it completes four years next month. The yatra is scheduled to enter Jhalawar in Rajasthan from Madhya Pradesh in the first week of December. During almost 20 days in the state, it will traverse through Jhalawar, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Dausa and Alwar. Party sources said the yatra will pass through 18 assembly ...
