Rahul slams PM over fuel prices, says Bharat Jodo Yatra voice of loktantra

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over high prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas, saying the Bharat Jodo Yatra is the voice of 'loktantra' against his "loot-tantra". The Congress has been attacking the government for not reducing the price of petrol and diesel in the country despite global crude oil prices going down considerably. "Crude oil - 25 per cent cheaper. LPG - 40 per cent cheaper. This is international price data. Despite this, why prices of petrol, diesel and gas cylinder have not been reduced?" Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi. "Mr. Prime Minister, Bharat Jodo Yatra is the voice of loktantra (democracy) against your 'loot-tantra'. You must answer," he said. Gandhi on Thursday had also attacked the government over the issue of fuel prices, alleging that while the people are suffering from high inflation, the prime minister is busy in recovering money from taxes.

Bharat Jodo Yatra raises Cong supporters' hopes year ahead of MP elections

The Congress has been claiming that Rahul Gandhi's ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra has nothing to do with electoral politics, but it has raised hopes of the party's cadres and supporters ahead of the next year's Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh. The cross-country march led by Gandhi is currently passing through the state. After winning a slim majority in 2018, the Congress formed government in Madhya Pradesh by taking along some independents, dethroning the BJP which was in power for more than a decade. But the Kamal Nath government collapsed in March 2020 after 22 legislators from Jyotiraditya Scindia's camp resigned, paving the way for the BJP's return to power. We have been with the Congress for three generations. I gave up a day's wages to join the Yatra. It will lead to a change of power in the state, said Parasram Adhya (40), who got the opportunity to interact with Rahul Gandhi at Khargone. The state BJP pooh-poohed the Yatra's supposed impact on the Grand Old Party's ...

The Congress leaders were talking to reporters after participating in a meeting on preparations for the party's Bharat Jodo Yatra, scheduled to enter Congress-run Rajasthan on December 4. Gandhi had been asked about Gehlot's traitor remark that had seemed to queer the pitch for the Rajasthan phase of the yatra led by him. Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot have assured that the yatra (Rajasthan phase) will be the one of the most successful in the country. I am also sure that ...

Case registered over video of pro-Pak slogans during Bharat Jodo Yatra

The Madhya Pradesh Police have registered a case in connection with a purported video pertaining to pro-Pakistani slogans raised during the Congress's Bharat Jodo Yatra, an official said on Sunday. While the Congress alleged it was a doctored video with which the Bharatiya Janata Party was trying to defame the foot march led by Rahul Gandhi, the ruling BJP claimed the opposition party deleted the clip after a pro-Pakistani slogan was heard in it. Khargone's Superintendent of Police Dharmveer Singh Yadav said the case was registered at Sanawad police station against unidentified persons under Indian Penal Code Sections 153 (B) (imputations, assertions prejudicial to national-integration) and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) in connection with the video related to pro-Pakistani slogans. Yadav did not share any other detail and said further investigation into the case was underway. MP Congress Committee's media department chairperson KK Mishra in a statem

Cong seeks to bolster hold on key MP region; BJP launches counter campaign

The politically crucial Malwa-Nimar region of Madhya Pradesh played a key role in propelling the Congress to power in 2018 after a gap of 15 years and the party is utilising the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra to strengthen its position in the belt a year ahead of the Assembly polls. The yatra's focus on Malwa-Nimar during its Madhya Pradesh leg will help the party revive its organization at the grassroots level and also allow it to reap electoral benefits, according to a section of Congress leaders and political observers. Mindful of the political significance of the region, which accounts for 66 of the total 230 Assembly seats, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), too, has stepped up its efforts to consolidate its position in Malwa-Nimar and retain its hold on power in the state. Gandhi's cross-country march reached Baroda Ahir village, the birthplace of tribal icon and revolutionary Tantya Bheel in Pandhana tehsil in Khandwa district on November 24, a day after the yatra .

The work which Ambedkar ji and the Congress did jointly, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru.Subhash Chandra Bose ji... (Such) Great personalities gave us the Constitution," he said. The RSS was criticized by its detractors in the past for not hoisting the Tricolour at its offices for several years after ...
