NTPC power generation rises nearly 12% to 295 bn units in Apr-Dec 2022

State-owned energy giant NTPC's power generation grew 11.6 per cent year-on-year to 295.4 billion units (BU) in April-December this fiscal. This assumes significance as NTPC supplies one-fourth of the electricity in the country. NTPC recorded a generation of 295.4 BU during April-December 2022, registering a growth of 11.6 per cent compared to the same period the previous year, a company statement said. On a standalone basis, NTPC generated 254.6 BU during April-December 2022, a 16.1 per cent year-on-year rise. Its coal-based thermal power plants registered a PLF (plant load factor or capacity utilisation) of 73.7 per cent for 9 months in FY23 (April-December 2022) compared to 68.5 per cent in the year-ago period. NTPC's captive coal production remained at 14.6 MMT in the said period, with 51 per cent year-on-year growth. NTPC group's installed capacity is 7,0824 MW. Recently, the company has crossed 3 GW of renewable capacity.

8 MW solar energy capacity at NTPC Auraiya project commercially operational

NTPC on Tuesday said 8 MW solar energy generation capacity at its Auraiya project in Uttar Pradesh has been made commercially operational. The remaining 12 MW solar capacity under implementation is expected to be operational by March 2021. "Consequent upon successful commissioning, 8 MW part capacity of 20 MW Auraiya Solar PV Project at Auraiya, UP, has been declared on Commercial Operation w.e.f. 00:00 Hrs. of 10.11.2020," NTPC said in a BSE filing. The present installed capacity of NTPC Group comprises 46 NTPC stations--24 coal- based, 7 combined cycle gas/liquid fuel, 1 hydro, 14 renewables. Besides, it has 25 JV & subsidiaries stations-- 9 coal, 4 Gas/liquid fuel, 8 hydro, 4 renewables.

NTPC to curtail power supply to J&K from Feb 19 for payment default

State-owned power giant NTPC will regulate power supply to Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) from February 18 midnight for not clearing outstanding dues of more than Rs 1,600 crore. On February 5, the company had also issued similar notices to discoms in Telangana, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh to regulate power, as the states had as much as Rs 4,138.39 crore outstanding dues for over 60 days. But those notices were later put in abeyance after assurances to make payments. In a notice issued to J&K, the company has said that as much as Rs 1,626.01 crore is due for over 60 days and according to the power regulator CERC's guidelines, generators can serve notice for regulation of power to defaulters. J&K can lose supply of 939.03 megawatts of power supply from NTPC's plants including Dadri, Koldam, Farakka, Auraiya, Rihand and Unchahar.
