Noida Police on Sunday banned use of drones by any individual or organisation till November 2 in view of President Droupadi Murmu and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's proposed visit to the city, an official statement said. "The programme of seventh edition of the India Water Week is proposed in Gautam Buddh Nagar on November 1 in which the president is proposed to participate while the UP chief minister is also scheduled to visit on October 30 or 31," the statement read. "Therefore, in view of the security of the president and the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, the operation of drones by any private person or organisation will be prohibited from October 29 to November 2," it said. The fire department received more than a dozen calls from Noida and Greater Noida on Diwali, officials said on Tuesday. Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Arun Kumar Singh said, no loss of life was reported in any of the incidents. Oyo has started an internal probe after Noida police arrested two people who allegedly put a hidden camera in a hotel room and filmed a couple, officials said Saturday. The two accused had booked the same room in the Phase 3 police station area last month where they placed a hidden camera before checking out. After a week, they booked the same room and took the camera out which had recorded the couple in intimate condition, officials said. Additional DCP (Central Noida) Saad Miyan Khan said the duo had made extortion attempt with the couple threatening to release their video online. While accused Vishnu Singh and Abdul Wahab were held, police also questioned the hotel staff over the incident but so far their role has not been found. Two private security guards of a housing complex here were taken into police custody over clashes between two groups of residents, officials said on Friday. The two groups of the residents of Hyde Park in Sector 78, located within the Sector 113 police station limits, clashed on Thursday night, resulting in minor injuries to two women, they added. "The clashes broke out between the residents over the post of president of the society's Apartment Owners' Association (AOA). The guards also got involved in the fight, leading to injuries to two women," a police official said. "Two guards have been detained following a complaint from the injured women and further investigation is underway," the police official said. Police said CCTV footage is being analysed to ascertain the sequence of events. Video clips purportedly of the clash are circulating on social media platforms. All schools across Noida and Greater Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar will stay close on Monday on account of excessive rainfall, according to an official order. The closure will be applicable for all classes up to 12th and to all schools across boards, the order stated. "Due to excessive rain in the district and keeping in view the possibility of excessive rain, the District Magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar has declared a holiday on October 10 (Monday) in government, semi-government aided and unaided recognized schools of all the boards operating from class 1 to 12 of the district," District School Inspector Dharamveer Singh said. A fire broke out at a factory here on Friday afternoon, prompting rescue and relief measures at the site, officials said. Chief Fire Officer Arun Kumar Singh said 15 fire tenders were rushed to the site where fire broke out around 4 pm. The factory was used to make material used in modular kitchens, the officer said. "Some workers were rescued from the factory located in C block of Sector 3," he said, confirming no injuries to any person. "Fifteen fire tenders were rushed to the site where firefighting is underway. All efforts are being made to douse the fire completely but smoke was main challenge being faced by firefighters," Singh said. He added that the cause of fire and quantum of damage to property was yet to be ascertained.
Over 1.25 lakh old vehicles registered in Gautam Buddh Nagar will be taken off the roads in compliance with a National Green Tribunal order on phasing out diesel and petrol vehicles older than 10 and 15 years, respectively, from the national capital region. The district transport department has started a campaign to phase out such vehicles and begun contacting their owners from October 1 following an Uttar Pradesh government order, officials said. Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Siyaram Verma said, "These vehicles will either be scrapped or a no-objection certificate (NOC) issued for their usage so that they could be used in some select districts that do not fall under NCR." The removal of debris of Supertech's twin towers from the site in Sector 93A should start from Thursday and end by November 28, the Noida Authority directed officials on Wednesday. It also directed Edifice Engineering, the company hired to demolish the twin towers, to construct a portion of boundary wall of ATS Village society which got damaged during the twin tower demolition on August 28. The nearly 100-metre tall towers were razed to ground in compliance with a Supreme Court order that had found their construction within the Emerald Court society premises illegal. Currently, the work for secondary breaking of the debris is underway at the site after which it would be sent to the construction and demolition waste processing unit. The demolition left behind a whopping 80,000 tonnes of rubble, a large part of which got filled in the basement of the towers while 30,000 tonnes of it have to be removed from the site.
