Union Minister for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Nitin Gadkari on Saturday has asserted that the priority of the government is to take village industry turnover to Rs 5 lakh crore within five years.Speaking at an event of KPIT Sparkle 2021, the minister said, "Our village industry turnover is Rs 88,000 crore, my highest priority is to take it to Rs 5 lakh crore within five years. It is an important mission for me."In November last year, Gadkari at Virtual Horasis Asia Meeting had said that the Centre is planning to take the MSME contribution to the economic growth from 30 per cent to 40 per cent."Our target is to take the MSME contribution to the economic growth from 30 per cent to 40 per cent and also increase the MSME export from 48 per cent to 60 per cent. Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday invited MSMEs to avail concessional debt finance to install rooftop solar for business efficiency. The Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Road Transport & Highways said rooftop solar offers an excellent value proposition to MSMEs by significantly bringing down cost of electricity consumption, which on an average, is up to one-fifth of their operations cost. MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday said 5,000 clusters for artisans can be started under the SFURTI scheme by fast-tracking the approval processes and reducing red-tape. The ministry is implementing the Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) with an aim to organise traditional industries and artisans into clusters to make them competitive and increase their income. Under the scheme, it provides support for creating infrastructure through Common Facility Centres, procurement of new machineries, creating raw material banks and improved packaging. The minister said there is a need to step up the pace of formation of such clusters, "since only 82 of the 371 announced so far are actually functional, and a target of 5,000 clusters is easily achievable if red-tape can be reduced."
