The COVID-19 tally in Nashik reached 4,12,549 after 28 cases were detected on Friday, while one death took the toll to 8,727, an official said.
Nashik city in Maharashtra has this week recorded the highest-ever single-day rainfall during December, the Met department has said. Unseasonal rains lashed the city and other parts of the district on December 1 and showers continued during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. Sources in the weather department said the city recorded 63.8 mm rainfall in the 24-hour period starting 8.30 am on Wednesday, which broke the all-time record for 24-hour rainfall in December. The previous record was 31 mm rainfall which was registered on December 16, 1967. In all, the district received 176 mm rainfall during this period. Apart from the city, other parts of the district, including Igatpuri, Trimbakeshwar, Dindori, Peth, Niphad, Sinnar, Chandwad, Dewla, Nandgaon, Yeola, Baglan, Kalwan and Surgana received showers that day.

Nashik district in Maharashtra on Sunday reported 100 fresh coronavirus positive cases, taking the tally to 4,08,078, while 113 patients recovered, health officials said. The death toll rose to 8,624 after one patient succumbed to the COVID-19 infection, they said. With 113 patients discharged on Sunday, the total count of recoveries in the Nashik district rose to 3,98,448. With 2,592 new tests, the number of samples examined for coronavirus so far in the district went up to 25,63,212, they added.

The count of COVID-19 cases in Nashik district of Maharashtra rose to 4,02,727 with the single-day addition of 57 new patients on Monday, health department officials said. The virus claimed three more lives which took the death toll in the district to 8,520, they said. So far, 3,93,127 patients have been discharged from hospitals, of which 80 recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, the officials said. As many as 22,80,760 swab samples have been tested till date for detection of coronavirus, 6,816 of them during the day, they added.
