The Maharashtra government on Wednesday announced a probe by a seven-member committee into the death of 24 COVID-19 patients at a Nashik hospital due to leakage of oxygen and disruption of supply.
As many as 5,067 persons tested positive for coronavirus, while 35 died of the infection in Maharashtra's Nashik district on Thursday, an official said. With this, the tally of infections in the district reached 2,48,868 and the toll rose to 2,816, the official said. Of the latest casualties, 19 were reported from the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) limits and 16 from other parts of the district, he said. As many as 4,205 patients were discharged from various treatment facilities during the day, taking the count of recoveries to 2,07,472, the official said. At least 16,033 swab samples were tested during the day, taking the number of tests conducted in the district to 9,46,224, he added.
As many as 3,343 persons tested positive for COVID-19, while 32 died of the infection in the last 24 hours in Maharashtra's Nashik district, an official said on Tuesday.
The number of COVID-19 cases rose by 3,741 on Sunday to reach 2,30,041, while the day also saw 31 deaths and 3,797 people getting discharged, an official said. The toll in the district stands at 2,682 and the recovery count is 1,90,339, he added. With 13,661 samples being examined on Sunday, the number of tests in Nashik went up to 8,87,262, the official said.
