Kerala records 19,688 fresh coronavirus cases, 135 more deaths

Kerala on Monday reported 19,688 fresh COVID-19 cases and 135 deaths pushing the total infection count to 42,27,526 and the fatalities till date to 21,631, the state government said. The test positivity rate (TPR) was found to be 16.71 per cent after testing 1,17,823 samples in the last 24 hours, according to a state government release. With this, 3,25,08,136 samples have been tested till now, it said. The bulletin also said that since Sunday, 28,561 people have recovered from the infection taking the total recoveries to 39,66,557 and the number of active cases to 2,38,782. Among the 14 districts of the state, Thrissur recorded the highest with 3,120 cases followed by Kozhikode (2,205), Ernakulam (2,029), Malappuram (1,695), Kollam (1,624), Palakkad (1,569), Thiruvananthapuram (1,483), Alappuzha (1,444), Kannur (1,262) and Kottayam (1,020), the release said. Of the new cases, 81 were health workers, 111 from outside the state and 18,602 infected through contact with the source of .

Two health workers show symptoms of Nipah infection: Kerala Health Minister

Two more people have been identified with symptoms of Nipah virus infection, Kerala health minister Veen George said here on Sunday. The two are among the 20 high risk contacts of the deceased 12-year-old child, she said. "We have identified 188 contacts till now. The surveillance team have marked 20 of them as high risk contacts. Two of these high risk contacts have symptoms. Both are health workers. One works with a private hospital, while the other is a staff member of Kozhikode Medical College hospital," she told reporters after chairing a high-level meeting to take stock of the situation. She said all the 20 high risk contacts will be shifted to the Kozhikode Medical College by evening, while other contacts of the child have been asked to remain in isolation. Kerala registers 32,097 fresh coronavirus cases, 188 more deaths

Kerala on Thursday reported 32,097 new COVID-19 cases and 188 deaths which pushed the total infection count to 41,22,133 and the fatalities to 21,149. The test positivity rate (TPR) was found to be 18.41 per cent after testing of 1,74,307 samples in the last 24 hours, according to a state government release. With this, 3,19,01,842 samples have been tested till now, it said. It also said that since Wednesday, 21,634 people have recovered from the infection taking the total recoveries to 38,60,248 and the number of active cases to 2,40,186. Among the 14 districts of the state, Thrissur recorded the highest with 4,334 cases followed by Ernakulam (3,768), Kozhikode (3,531), Palakkad (2,998), Kollam (2,908), Malappuram (2,664), Thiruvananthapuram (2,440), Kottayam (2,121), Alappuzha (1,709), Kannur (1,626), Pathanamthitta (1,267), Idukki (1,164) and Wayanad (1,012), the release said.
