Jet Airways to have best possible app, website among Indian carriers: CEO

Jet Airways will have the best possible app, website and IT systems and services among all Indian carriers without losing the human touch, its CEO Sanjiv Kapoor said on Friday. "Human interaction cannot be fully replaced by technology -- it must always be there as a backup, especially when things go wrong (during irregular operations, etc)," he stated in an email to employees. The airline will announce its aircraft order soon after it receives its air operator certificate (AOC), Kapoor noted. On May 5, Jet Airways conducted its test flight to and from Hyderabad in a step towards obtaining the AOC. The airline in its old avatar was owned by Naresh Goyal and had operated its last flight on April 17, 2019. The Jalan-Kalrock Consortium is currently the promoter of Jet Airways. Kapoor's email, which has been accessed by PTI, said the airline will "very soon conduct" its proving flight, the last step before obtaining the AOC. After Jet Airways mishap, Prabhu orders safety audit of airlines, airports

Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu Thursday ordered a safety audit of all scheduled airlines and airports, amid recent incidents related to safety of passengers. The development assumes significance as it comes on a day when at least 30 passengers on a Jet Airways flight from Mumbai to Jaipur suffered nose and ear bleeding after the crew "forgot" to turn on a switch that controls cabin air pressure. The minister has also ordered a probe into the Jet Airways flight incident, which is being investigated by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), an official statement said. In recent times, there have been incidents of mid-air engine failures, involving the Pratt and Whitney (P&W) engine-powered Airbus A320 neo planes being operated by domestic budget carriers IndiGo and GoAir. Threat call: Jet flight to Delhi diverted to Ahmedabad for security reasons

A Delhi-bound Jet Airways flight from Mumbai was today diverted to the airport here for "security reasons", according to sources. The flight 9W339, which took off from Mumbai at 0255 hours, landed at Ahmedabad airport at around 0345 hours. A passenger onboard said the flight was diverted to Ahmedabad citing "security reasons". All the passengers were asked to deplane and were screened. A security personnel at Ahmedabad airport said the flight was diverted as there was a specific threat call. The number of passengers onboard could not be immediately ascertained. There was no immediate response from Jet Airways spokesperson.
