Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, launched the first District Export Plans on Friday in the presence of Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Anupriya Patel.Speaking at the event, held at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre on the banks of Dal Lake, said that efforts are being made to ensure every district from the northern state exports something or the other."We will try to export from every district of Jammu and Kashmir in the coming time. Amarnath Yatra: 8 pilgrims die due to natural causes, toll climbs to 41

Eight pilgrims died due to natural causes in the last 36 hours during the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, taking the pilgrimage's death toll to 41, officials said on Thursday. The total includes 15 pilgrims who died in the flash flood triggered by a cloudburst near the cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas last week. The eight pilgrims who died were identified as Mongilal (52) from Rajasthan, Vriag Lal Hira Chand Vyas (57) from Gujarat, Basavaraja (68) from Karnataka, Pooniamoorthi (63) from Singapore, Kiran Chaturvedi from Maharashtra, Kalavala Suberamanyam (63) from Andhra Pradesh, Govind Sharan (34) from Uttar Pradesh, and Satveer Singh (70) from Haryana, the officials said. The annual Amarnath Yatra began on June 30 but was suspended following the flash flood on July 8. The pilgrimage resumed on July 11.

J-K: Police officer killed, 2 personnel injured in Srinagar terror attack

A 56-year-old police officer was killed and two personnel were injured when terrorists attacked a police team in the outskirts of the city on Tuesday, officials said. The incident took place around 7:15 pm when the terrorists fired at a police checkpoint in the Lal Bazar area, the officials said. They said Jammu and Kashmir Police assistant sub-inspector Mushtaq Ahmad was killed while head constable Fayaz Ahmad and SPO Abu Bakar were injured in the attack. The injured cops were rushed to a hospital where their condition is stated to be stable. The officials said a search operation has been launched in the area to nab the attackers. "ASI Mushtaq Ahmad #succumbed to his injuries & attained #martyrdom. We pay rich #tribute to the #martyr for his supreme #sacrifice made in the line of duty. Amarnath cloudburst: Amit Shah speaks to LG; orders swift rescue operations

Union Home Minister Amit Shah Friday directed central forces and Jammu and Kashmir administration to ensure swift operations to rescue people affected in the cloudburst near the base camp of Amarnath holy cave. Shah said in a Tweet in Hindi that he has spoken to J&K LG Manoj Sinha to take stock of the situation following the cloudburst that struck around 5:30 pm. "NDRF, CRPF, BSF and local administration are engaged in the rescue work. Saving people's lives is our priority. I wish all the devotees well," the minister said. At least eight lives have been lost in the incident, police said.
