Bengal CM condoles death of ITBP personnel killed in J-K bus accident

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday extended her condolences to the family members of jawans killed in a bus accident in Jammu and Kashmir. She prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the mishap. "Deeply pained to learn about the tragic accident in Pahalgam whereby our nation lost several brave ITBP jawans & police personnel. I offer my heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of our jawans. Praying for the speedy recovery of those who were injured on duty," the chief minister tweeted. J-K: Cop, LeT militant injured in encounter in Srinagar's Nowhatta

A constable and a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant were injured in an encounter in Nowhatta area of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday on the eve of the Independence Day, police said. "Chance #encounter started in Nowhatta area of #Srinagar. Police & CRPF are on the job. Further details shall follow," Kashmir Zone police wrote on Twitter. Police said one policeman Constable Sarfaraz Ahmad, resident of Batote area of Ramban, got injured and was evacuated to hospital for treatment. One #terrorist also got injured. Search is still going on. Further details shall follow," police said in another tweet. The scooter used by two terrorists of LeT outfit was seized from the incident site, police said, adding an AK-74 rifle and two grenades were also recovered.

J&K: 156 cops get gallantry medals, five receive meritorious services medal

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Sunday conferred gallantry medals to 156 policemen and meritorious services medals to five officers on the eve of the 76th Independence Day. Jammu and Kashmir UT administration has announced Jammu & Kashmir Police Medal for Gallantry and Meritorious Service. 156 Police personnel have been conferred with the Gallantry Medals and five officers have been awarded Meritorious Service Medals, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) police wrote on Twitter. The police said the Jammu and Kashmir Police Medal for Meritorious Service have been conferred upon SSPs Zubair Ahmad Khan, Ramesh Kumar Angral and Mumtaz Ahmed, Inspector Showkat Ahmad Zargar and ASI Sunil Jalla. J&K DGP Dilbag Singh congratulated the awardees and their families. He also thanked Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and his administration for recognising the professionalism and dedication of JKP officers and jawans," they added.

Migrant worker shot dead by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora

A migrant worker from Bihar was shot dead by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district, police said on Friday. The attack took place around midnight, they said. "During intervening night, #terrorists fired upon & injured one outside #labourer Mohd Amrez S/O Mohd Jalil R/O Madhepura Besarh #Bihar at Soadnara Sumbal, #Bandipora," the Kashmir Zone Police said on Twitter.
