Shah to visit J-K on Tuesday; security review, public meetings on agenda

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will review the security situation, attend public meetings and lay foundations of various development projects during his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.Shah's trip to J-K is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 4.The Home Minister will start his journey at around 10 am by offering prayers at Vaishno Devi temple on October 4.He will later address a public meeting at Rajouri around one-and-half hours after visiting the Vaishno Devi temple.The Minister will further launch development projects and also lay foundation stones for various projects at Convention Centre in Jammu.On the second day of his visit on Wednesday (October 5), Shah will review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir at a meeting that is slated to be held at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar.Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, top officials of the Army, paramilitary forces, state police and civil administration will take part in this high-level meeting expected to begin at

BJP attacks Shashi Tharoor for showing India's 'mutilated' map in manifesto

The BJP on Friday took a dig at Congress presidential candidate Shashi Tharoor over the country's map shown in his manifesto, saying he put a "mutilated map" not having parts of Jammu and Kashmir may be to "find favour" with the Gandhis. Tharoor filed his nomination on Friday and released a manifesto which had India's map that did not appear accurate as some parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were omitted. Later his office said the map has been corrected. In a tweet, BJP's IT cell head Amit Malviya said Tharoor put a mutilated map of India in his manifesto. Taking a swipe at Tharoor, he said, "While Rahul Gandhi is supposedly on a Bharat Jodo Yatra, wannabe Congress President is hell bent on dismembering India. May be he thinks this might help find favour with the Gandhis." J-K DGP calls for alertness in Rajouri border areas of ahead of Shah's tour

Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Tuesday reviewed the security arrangements in Rajouri for the upcoming visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and stressed for alertness in border areas and hinterland in the district. Shah was scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir from September 30, but on Tuesday the visit was postponed and he will now arrive on October 4 to address two mega rallies in Rajouri and Baramulla.
