Goa has become the first state in the country to provide 100 per cent tap water connections in rural areas covering 2.30 lakh households, the Jal Shakti Ministry said on Friday.

Shekhawat said at present there is no proposal to transfer water from the state list to the concurrent list
The proposal comes amid tests conducted by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on drinking water, which found water quality in Mumbai as per standard but poor in many state capitals, including Delhi
The government has also started the work of mapping aquifer and by next March
The minister also said that no proposal to declare the right to safe water a fundamental right is under consideration of the government.
