AIFF fraternity shocked to hear about demise of Peter Vaz, says Kushal Das

All India Football Federation has condoled the untimely demise of Peter Vaz, founder and chairman of Sporting Clube de Goa. Vaz died at the age of 53.Vaz turned the Models Group into one of the leading business group of Goa, with diversified interests in construction, tourism, hospitality and sports.Sporting Clube de Goa, fondly called as "the Oranjes" by their supporters, won the GFA league in its inception year itself (1999-2000). Following that, they triumphed in the ONGC Super Cup in 2005, whereas reached the final of the Federation Cup thrice (2005, 2006 and 2014). U-17 World Cup will boost women's football in India, says Bala Devi

National team striker Bala Devi feels the forthcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2022 will help change the overall mindset about women's football in India. The tournament was originally scheduled to be held this year but was first postponed to 2021 and then pushed back by another year to 2022. "Earlier, we didn't see many girls play football. Now, the numbers have gone up significantly. "In the FIFA U-17 World Cup, more girls from various countries will come to India and our girls will get an opportunity to rub shoulders with the world's best. That will help change the overall mindset," the Rangers Women FC forward told AIFF TV. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is set to host the second FIFA World Cup in five years, and the 30-year-old striker feels that it will help the country "shine" on a global stage.
